Visiting Hillside for Lunch
We encourage parents and guardians to visit our campus for lunch with your child. Please check in at the office and obtain a badge for identification. If you will be eating lunch, please pay for your lunch at the front desk. Lunch is in the cafeteria at the times below.
After lunch, please return directly to the office to sign out and return your visitor's badge. Thank you for helping us to keep our building secure.
Meeting with a Teacher
Please know that you are welcome to request a meeting with a teacher or an administrator at any time. You can call or email your child's teacher directly or call our front office at 402-390-6450 to set up an appointment. If you wish to meet with an administrator, you may contact the principal, Mrs. Bailey, at bailey.cynthia@westside66.net or the assistant principal, Ms. Lewis, at 402-408-8461 to request an appointment. We do appreciate advance notice of a meeting request so that we can give you the appropriate time and attention necessary to meet your needs.
Observing in the Classroom
Observations in the classroom are available and are at the classroom teacher's discretion. The presence of additional adults in the classroom, especially family members, can be disruptive and distracting to students; scheduling an observation will require adequate advance notice so that we can find a time during the day that will be least disruptive to instruction. Frequency and duration of observation will be limited so that students are able to focus on learning.
Volunteering at Hillside
If you wish to be a regular volunteer at Hillside, we welcome you. Volunteers help out in the library or can be scheduled with teachers requesting assistance with assembling materials, reading or working on rote skills with students. The best way to volunteer at Hillside is to become a member of Hillside's Community Club. The Community Club is a group of parents and guardians who plan events at our school, host community gatherings, and organize and execute fundraisers. There are many ways to get involved with Community Club. Please watch our newsletter for meetings dates and times. If you are unable to attend a meeting, please contact Community Club at d66hillside@gmail.com to see how you can get involved.
If you wish to volunteer at Hillside, we will contact you beforehand to request information so that our district can conduct a background check. This is a district policy for every school volunteer.
Hillside's Community Club
Please join our team by getting involved with Hillside's Community Club. Community Club is Westside's organization for uniting parents, guardians, and staff for the purpose of creating a sense of community at our school. Working together helps to make our students' school experience extra special.
Please contact Community Club at d66hillside@gmail.com. The 2023-24 Community Club President is Mrs. Erin Palzer.
