Coupeville School District: A Place to Celebrate!
Dear Coupeville Families and Community,
As we wrap up our third week of school, we're excited to share some fantastic news about our district! We've had a wonderful start to the new school year, and we're proud to announce that the Coupeville School District has been ranked 28th in the state of Washington for school districts, out of a total of 247 school districts (according to Schooldigger).
Please note that this ranking is based on data from the 2023-2024 school year. Our state recently released this data, which focuses on student progress. As you review the data, you'll notice two key scores which is a new change from previous years:
- % of Students on Track for College-Level Learning: This represents students who scored a level 3 or 4 on the SBA (state assessment).
- % of Students Showing Foundational Grade-Level Knowledge or Above: This represents students who scored a level 2, 3, or 4 on the SBA.
You will see our scores below in pictures.
This achievement is a due to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and the entire Coupeville community. Our focus on HOPE this year will be instrumental in cultivating a positive and supportive learning environment for our students.
Thank you for your continued support of our school. Together, we're building a bright future for our students.
Sincerely,
Shannon Leatherwood, Superintendent
New Board Director for District 3!
Welcome Bryan Sherman
As you may know, we recently had a vacancy on our School Board due to the resignation of Sherry Phay in July. We want to take this opportunity to thank Sherry for her many years of dedicated service to our district. Her contributions to the Coupeville School Board is much appreciated.
To fill this position, we advertised the requirements and application process in August with the closing date of September 12.
Yesterday, we held a special meeting to interview candidates for this important role. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Bryan Sherman, a proud alumnus of the Coupeville School District, as our new School Board Director.
Bryan's commitment to serving our community and his dedication to our students were evident throughout the interview process. We are excited to welcome him to the board and look forward to his contributions.
