Mr. Middleton's Sunday Message
4/14/2024
Dear Twelve Bridges families,
We have a busy week coming up with our Starstruck performances! Be sure you have read all of the directions to get your tickets for one of the nightly shows. With the exception of TK, all students are expected to perform for both of the evening performances on their designated night. We can't wait to see their moves!
The Western Placer Unified School District has partnered with YouthTruth – a nonprofit organization that supports hundreds of schools and districts across the country – to conduct an anonymous survey on our behalf. Students in 3rd-5th will be asked to participate in a student survey as well. The permission slips for student surveys will be coming home soon (some of you may have received the permission slips last week).
The family survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and will help our district make decisions for the 2024-2025 school year.
Please take the survey before it closes at midnight on April 26, 2024 by clicking this link:
Please note:
- The survey needs to be completed in one sitting.
- We ask that one member of each household fill out the survey.
- If you have more than one child who attends the same school, you may respond to the survey multiple times - one time per child.
- If you write any comments, please do not include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses are anonymous, and they will be combined with the responses of other parents and guardians before being shared back with school and district leadership.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Your response is incredibly valuable to us.
I'm looking forward to seeing you at our performances this week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Middleton

Paws Slip-ups
Paws Slip-ups are a new system we are trying out to address some low-level behaviors. The main behaviors we are trying to target are littering, not putting equipment away, running on campus (not playground running), continued playing after the end of the recess bell, and inappropriate/hurtful language. For those or similar infractions, students will receive a PAWS Slip-up. The goal is to immediately assign a natural consequence to the student i.e., running - go back and walk, hurtful language - offer an apology, etc. Each Slip-Up is documented and kept track of to help us target locations, times, or behaviors that may need more support. Parents will not be contacted when a PAWS Slip-Up is issued as we are trying to keep the consequences small. If a student receives three PAWS Slip-Ups, they will meet with an administrator for a final reminder and a note will be sent home that includes a list of the infractions. If a student is issued another PAWS Slip-Up, they will receive a citation that would include a more serious consequence and a phone call home. The students have all had a chance to learn about PAWS Slip-Ups at a recent assembly focused on appropriate behavior. Of course, to balance things out, our staff are reminded to hand out ROAR cards to our many students that are following our schoolwide expectations. Please let me know if you have any questions.
PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF STUDENTS BEFORE 7:45AM!
We have noticed a large increase in students being dropped off or arriving to school BEFORE 7:45 AM. We do NOT have supervision before 7:45 AM. Please remind students who walk/ride to school on their own that they can't be on campus before 7:45 AM as this is a safety issue. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please return borrowed clothing
We had a generous donation by a local family of new, clean clothing to hand out to those students who had accidents and needed a change of clothing. The clothing was sent home with a note to please wash and return. We are running low on clothing as those borrowed items have yet to be returned. If your student has borrowed clothing, please wash and return to them to the office ASAP. If your student tends to get muddy or have potty accidents please send them with extra clothing in their backpacks. Thanks!
Stop It Solutions
Twelve Bridges Elementary is enrolled with STOPit Solutions. STOPit is an anonymous online reporting tool designed to deter and mitigate bullying, cyber abuse, and other innappropriate behaviors. Students and families can submit a report via the STOPit website, STOPit app or 24/7 phone hotline. Please see the flyer below for more information. To view the STOPit Training Video please click HERE.

Travel Studies
Travel Studies will NOT be approved for the last 2 weeks of the school year (anything beyond May 23rd) or during state testing for 3rd-5th graders (May13th-24th).
If your student is going to be out of town and absent from school for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 14 days, you will need to inform the front office of this absence no later than five school days prior to leaving (the more time the better).
Once the office has been informed, they will email you a travel study contract to electronically sign. The teacher will be notified of the absence and will put together all of the class work they will miss.
Teachers are very busy getting together needed work, so please be patient and give ample time before going on vacation.
Traffic Reminders and Pick-up/Drop-off Procedures
Our local police department has been citing people who are not following traffic laws. On the corner of Eastridge and Twelve Bridges Drive please pull along the curb if you are waiting in the driveline and do NOT block traffic that is trying to make the right hand turn off of Twelve Bridges onto Eastridge (keep the last 20 feet from the corner clear - see picture below).
Below that picture is a message from LPD that they released on Thursday regarding golf carts and NEVs.
Please make sure to remind your students to be careful as they travel to and from school. We have had several close calls with the busy traffic in the neighborhoods. Please also remind your students to wear a helmet if they are coming to school by bike or scooter. We want to make sure are students stay safe!
If you have people who typically don't pick-up your child coming to get them please have them watch the video or park and walk. Thank you!

IMPORTANT HEALTH REMINDER
With the change in weather it seems cold and flu season is now upon us. This is a friendly reminder that if your student has a fever of 100.5 or has thrown up, they must stay home until they are fever free and haven't thrown up, without medication, for at least 24 hours. Thanks for helping us keep staff and students healthy!
Do you want to volunteer!
Some important reminders on what is needed in order to volunteer in the classroom or on fieldtrips.
You need:
- Have a negative TB test on file (bring proof to office) within the last 4 years
- Be live scanned through the district office (this only has to be completed once and lasts forever with WPUSD).
