Message from the Principal
Dear CETC Community,
We are excited to share the latest edition of our newsletter, which spotlights our outstanding Automotive Technology program. Additionally, we would like to highlight our recent state champions from Automotive, ProStart, and Welding. In total, CETC students have brought home seven state champions across various departments this school year! These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work and dedication of both our students and staff. We are very proud of their hard work and the recognition they've received.
We also want to remind you to mark your calendar for the upcoming SVVSD Career Fair hosted by CETC and IC next Friday, April 26. This event is a great opportunity for high school students to explore diverse career fields and post-secondary options. Representatives from colleges, industry partners, and the military will be on hand to provide insights into various pathways and entry-level positions. Students will even have the chance to interview for internships and job openings during the fair.
As always, your support is appreciated. Together, we will ensure that these final weeks of the school year are successful for our students.
Sincerely,
ToniJo Niccoli
Principal

Automotive Technology Community Service
The CETC Automotive Technology program is making a significant impact on its community through its partnership with A Woman's Work (AWW), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women in need. By repairing and maintaining vehicles for AWW, students are not only gaining valuable experience but also directly contributing to the well-being of those in their community. Second, third, and fourth-year students take on essential roles in assessing and addressing vehicle repair needs, tackling everything from routine maintenance to complex repairs. The efforts of students like Ben Holcomb, Fiona Bau-Madsen, and Dakota Steele are particularly noteworthy, as they have showcased their work with AWW at the Colorado Skills USA competition and will continue to do so at the National Skills USA Conference in Atlanta this summer. Way to impact your community! We are proud of you!
Automotive Technology
The Automotive Technology program at the CETC provides post-secondary opportunities for all students interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry. Our instructors, who are ASE certified Master Technicians, offer comprehensive training in a wide range of areas including maintenance services, brake repairs/diagnostics, suspension and steering repairs and alignments, HVAC repairs, engine performance, and diagnostics using scan and lab scopes, among other things. With our rigorous curriculum and experienced instructors, students receive the hands-on training and theoretical knowledge needed to excel in the field of automotive technology.
Meet the Teachers
Brian Smallwood
I’m Brian Smallwood, and I’ve been teaching a total of 18 years, 11 of them at the Career Elevation and Technology Center. In my free time, I enjoy snowmobiling and surfing. One thing I love about teaching at the CETC is the excitement and passion students show when they enter the building and participate in our labs. Students are excited to demonstrate the knowledge they gain here.
Philip Schilling
I'm Philip Schilling, and I teach in the Automotive Technologies Program. I have been in the automotive repair industry for 47 years. I began my teaching career here at the Career Elevation and Technology Center in the Spring of last year. One thing I love about teaching at the CETC is passing on my many years of knowledge to a new generation of young mechanics. In my free time, I enjoy working on my cars and spending time with my three grown sons.
