Happy Friday Raptor Families!

We had a fantastic and full week at Thunder Valley. Our students are engaged in learning and it has been a strong start to the school year.

As a reminder, due to Labor Day, we do not have school on Monday. On Wednesday, September 6th, we have our first PLC/Late Start. School starts at 11:05 am, with dropoff beginning at 10:50 am. In addition, the volleyball team has a game at Twin Peaks Charter Academy on Wednesday, September 6th at 3:30 pm.

With the very warm weather we have been experiencing, please remember to keep student dress inline with the SVVSD code of conduct. Many of us have adorable, fun loving pets that we want to share with everyone, but for the safety of ALL our students, we ask that you keep your pet at home. While we all have the best intentions, we need to do our best to keep students safe. We appreciate your understanding.

Community Schools is now taking registrations for the 23-24 school year. Registrations are done through stvrain.revtrak.net. Please see attached flyer for more information.

For the 23-24 School Year Thunder Valley will be participating with Milk Caps for Mooola. How does the program work?

1. Drink Longmont Dairy Milk (All caps from Longmont Dairy products in our glass bottles are eligible)
2. Save the bottle caps. Save as many as you can—from your bottles, or collect them from your family and neighbors.
3. Bring your milk caps to school and put them into the collection

Families can make payments using Campus Payments. Please visit this link for instructions on how to pay outstanding fees in Infinite Campus.

Please see below for important information from Nutrition Services for School Lunch and Free and Reduced Applications:

• SVVSD has opted into Healthy School Meals For All. This means students have access to 1 free breakfast and 1 free lunch daily. You can find answers to FAQ on the district website.
• School Breakfast and Lunch Menu can be accessed HERE
• If you would like to add money to your student's account (ala carte, milk, seconds) you can do so by sending cash or check to the cafeteria, or online payments by credit card are being set up with RevTrak and will be available to add funds in the first week of school.
• Online Free and Reduced Applications. We encourage online applications for several reasons:
a. Applications must be complete with all required information which enables our office to process them timely. Many paper applications were denied last year due to being incomplete and the family not responding.

b. Applications can be processed quickly vs waiting for them to come through district mail and then be processed manually. The software processes the applications within minutes and with fewer errors.

c. Families who wish to "opt out" of completing the application can select that option which helps us gather data, but also takes them off our mailing list of reminders.

School starts at 11:05am, the earliest students can be dropped off is 10:50am. Buses pick up 2.5 hours later than their normal pick up time.

Dear Thunder Valley K-8 students and families,

Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.

After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgment that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. Soaring Singers after school choir is open to current 3rd - 5th graders. You can choose to be in the Monday or Wednesday rehearsal group. Rehearsals happen from 3:35 - 4:45pm beginning in September and the ensemble will perform a concert in December.

100 Mile Club practices will begin September 18th and will be Monday- Thursday mornings from 7:50am-8:20am. If you are interested, sign-ups are through Revtrak and will be open next week. The deadline to register is September 30th. If you have any questions please contact Marissa Martinez.

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.

The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

The LTP Student iPad Insurance window for the 2023-2024 school year opens August 1st and closes on September 15th. Parents who wish purchase iPad insurance for this year will need to make at least a partial payment within this window.

This insurance fee will be added for every eligible student K-12 on August 1st. Please note that any student with an unpaid balance for iPad insurance from the previous year will not be eligible to join the pool this year until they pay off the previous year’s balance.

2023-2024 LTP Student iPad Insurance: $25

The iPad insurance fee will be reduced or waived for students eligible for a free or reduced price lunch under the federal poverty income guidelines and homeless students as defined by McKinney-Vento.

Celebrate Golden Eagle pride at 2023 Frederick High School Homecoming on Friday, Sept. 8! The parade starts at 5 p.m. at Thunder Valley K-8 and ends at FHS, followed by a free family-friendly tailgating event. The FHS Boosters Club sponsors the tailgating event, which includes hot dogs, games, prizes, music, face painting and more! Then stay for the game as the FHS Golden Eagles take on Scottsbluff at 7 p.m. Go Golden Eagles!

Parents/guardians shall be required to furnish an explanation for student absenteeism either in writing or orally. Absences not explained within two days after returning to school shall be recorded as unexcused absences unless unusual or extenuating circumstances exist as determined by the building administrator. After 10 excused or unexcused absences a doctors note is required. Communication is key to successful attendance.
