Laker Nation is a powerhouse in the DECA arena and this year we sent 201 students to the Cape to compete in role play and in their chosen field projects. Stay tuned for results!

We wish our very best to Assistant Principal, Catie Sentes, as she embarks on a new role. Mrs. Sentes has left her mark on the hearts of students and staff, alike, and we thank her for all that she has done to support our Lakers. You will be missed, Mrs. Sentes!

We also wish a happy retirement to Mrs. Lucinda Schiff who has supported our Lifeskills students in multiple buildings over the years. Congratulations!

We have welcomed Mr. Darren Fitzgibbons to join the Lifeskills team and he has had the opportunity to spend the week with Mrs. Schiff, learning from the master! Welcome, Mr. Fitzgibbons.

We will be welcoming Assistant Principal, Rachel Chavier, in the last week of January. Ms. Chavier is an experienced administrator with a strong passion for teaching and learning and student voice. Stay tuned for more from her later this month. Welcome, Ms. Chavier!

On Wednesday, January 29th, the ARHS Counseling Department will be hosting their annual Scholarship Info Session for Parents/Guardians. The program will begin promptly at 6:00pm (doors open at 5:45pm) and will be held in the ARHS Lecture Hall. This event will introduce the Class of 2025 ARHS Scholarship Program and cover the scholarship application process, the Senior Awards Assembly, and more. RSVP is not necessary; students are welcome, but not required as they will receive this information in school the week of February 3rd. This event will not be video recorded, but presentation details and resources will be shared to Class of 2025 parents/guardians via email on February 7th. The School Resource Officer Student Internship Program is accepting applications until January 13th. Any junior or senior interested in participating in the spring law enforcement internship program should pick up an application in the guidance office.

The Finest Cafe is open for the first time in 2025! Our Lifeskills Adult Transitions classroom will be bringing back their bagels, coffee, and cinnamon rolls for purchase by staff. This endeavor provides shopping, cooking skills, money management, and customer service experience, as well as raises funds for community outings. And it also provides a great treat to staff!

STEM opportunity for "Girls Who Code"

ARHS Sports Center students create a photojournalism project. The objective of this project was for students to capture the essence of a sporting event through their images

AP Biology students Phoebe Quinn, senior, and Nora McClurkin, junior, are busy at work setting up an AP Biology lab for bacterial transformation. These students will be transforming E.Coli bacteria with a plasmid that contains two genes. One gene confers antibiotic resistance to ampicillin and the other gene cleaves a genetically engineering lactose sugar that turns blue.
