Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the Thanksgiving break, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for each and every one of you. This has been a year full of growth, learning, and collaboration, and none of that would be possible without the support, care, and commitment of our wonderful school community.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the things that matter most—family, friends, and the joy of being together. I hope that this break provides you with an opportunity to recharge, create lasting memories with your loved ones, and find time to relax and enjoy the season. It is also a wonderful chance to give thanks for the small moments in our lives.

I am incredibly thankful for our students, whose curiosity and dedication make our school a place of inspiration every day. I am equally thankful for our hardworking staff, who go above and beyond to ensure that every student has the support and guidance they need to succeed.

As we head into this holiday season, I encourage you to take the time to rest and reflect, to savor the moments of connection, and to appreciate all that we have. Dear Parents and Guardians,

We kindly request your assistance in ensuring the success of Chromebook Week and Device Check. We have provided you with information on what Chromebook Week and Device Check entail in our weekly newsletter. Normally, your child would bring their fully charged Chromebook to school every day, but it is crucial that they do so this week November 19th through the 21st. During this time, students will be shutting down their Chromebooks, restarting them, and logging in to ensure that all necessary updates are installed and to verify the functionality of their devices.

Parents start with the School Spelling Bee Study List, which includes 450 useful and fascinating words. Our school spelling bee will begin with words from this list, however, you may see words not on the list in later rounds as the competition gets tougher. Your child will benefit from studying these words whether they study every one or just the 50 at their grade level.

The fall festival has been RESCHEDULED due to inclement weather.

We will have inflatables, a rock climbing wall, games, food, and much more!! Don't wait to get your wristbands - they are on school cash now!!

The wristband gives you:

Entry into Fall Festival.

Unlimited access to inflatables/rock climbing wall.

Unlimited carnival games, bingo, and monster toss.

1 meal: Hot dog, chips, drink or Nachos & Drink (not both)

The “Bringing Out the Best” character trait for the month of November is Empathy.

In an effort to support students as they plan for their future, this fall we will implement a Guidance Program that allows 8th grade students to explore their abilities, career interests, and academic options. Please encourage your student to participate in these upcoming opportunities so students may explore and plan for their future.

The CFISD Mental Health & Wellness Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Berry Center. Come meet mental health and wellness providers right from our community! Door prizes, self-care stations & student-led exhibits will be available.

Parents, we have some resources to help you access your student's grades. Once you are in Home Access Center (HAC) you can access grades, absences, set up gradebook alerts, and even view state testing results.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

If you plan on having your student leave early because of a doctor's appointment or non-emergency, please follow these procedures:

• Send a handwritten note with your student information and the time needed to be excused (please make sure your student gives it to attendance before 1st period)
• If sending a note through email, please make sure you attach a photo of your ID
• Emergency contacts cannot pick up students without approval (must have a handwritten note).
• No emails or early releases after 2:30 pm due to the dismissal process starting.

Other helpful tips:

• Make sure if your student is absent, please send an excuse note when your student arrives back to school.
• Non-emergency contacts cannot pick up students.

In an effort to ensure student safety, the following procedures are to be followed:

• All drivers must refrain from cell phone usage. It is a school zone law.

• We must keep the circle part of the pickup area clear for emergencies. Please do not pull into the circle until directed to do so.

• All cars must pull all the way forward to the end of the drop off and pick-up zone.

• We have limited parking, and it is reserved for our Truitt staff. Please do not park in these spaces.

• Please do not drop off or pick-up by the bus ramp.

• Please do not drop off or pick-up students on the street. Yorkpoint Dr. is not a drop off point.

• As you exit the parking lot make sure you turn right ONLY.

• Follow our staff members directions.

• We share the car rider line with our Special Education buses, please be patient. They enter on the right side.

• Line should only be on Hamstead Park. Not coming in from Addicks Satsuma.

• Please be kind. Do not block the driveways and do not skip the line.

We appreciate your assistance with keeping our car riders safe!

Truitt CELL PHONE & DEVICES PROCEDURE

Truitt Middle School students may bring electronic devices [such as a Cellular phones, Smart watches, headphones, iPods, speakers, cameras, games, iPads, Chromebook, or netbooks] on school grounds. However, these devices are not permitted during instructional time; and should be off and stored in their backpack at all times. District personnel will NOT assume responsibility for damaged, lost, or stolen electronic devices. Devices may be used during non-instructional times, athletic events or other school-related activities or special events with permission. Recording or taking pictures of adults and students while on campus is strictly prohibited, without permission.

Instructional time is defined as 7:25 am until the student is off campus, this includes the dismissal process. Non-instructional times are defined as:

· before or after school

· during lunch in the cafeteria (when earned)

· Athletic events

· Special approved events with permission

Students should have devices turned off and secured in their backpacks -- not on their person (pockets). When students enter the classroom, electronic devices may be secured by the teacher (at teacher discretion).

Electronic devices must be off set so that incoming calls, text messages, etc., shall not emit any audible sound, including vibration sound.

A staff member who finds a student in violation of the policy during instructional times shall confiscate the electronic device and follow procedures as outlined in the Student-Parent Handbook.

Hi Timberwolf Family-- We hope you all have been enjoying all the social media posts! We do this as a way to build community and keep families aware of the wonderful things that are happening EVERYDAY at Truitt Middle School. Maintaining privacy is very important to us and we ask for consent before posting your students. However, in the event that you would like to OPT-OUT and NOT have your student's picture highlighted or taken during the school day. Please complete this form.

Title I is a federally funded program meant to provide opportunities for disadvantaged

children to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to help close the

achievement gap. As a parent of a student receiving Title 1 funds, federal law allows

parents to ask for information about the certification of your child's teacher and/or paraprofessional.

Are you a dad, stepdad, granddad, uncle, or older brother? If so, we would love for you to come and volunteer as a Truitt Alpha!! It's very similar to the Watch D.O.G Program and it provides positive male role models on campus!

Your presence provides:

• School security
• Reduction in bullying
• A greater sense of safety
• Emphasis on the importance of education and attendance
