November was National Career Development Month. EMS staff shared their first jobs with students, displayed on a bulletin board. 8th-grade students completed Naviance lesson 8.1 Success, Risk, & Failure. To succeed, you must take risks and learn from your failures. Taking a risk is just about trying something new. They thought about what new things they might try in High School (clubs, sports, classes, friendships). In addition, they received a college and career readiness guide, “Way to Be” magazine for Maryland students.
6th-grade students completed their first lesson in Naviance, My Foundation. They were able to share their hobbies, interests, and activities. Sometimes, a student’s interest or hobby can influence a future career choice.
7th-grade students will complete their first lesson on Holland’s Code (RIASEC) in December. For more information, watch the YouTube video “Explore the RIASEC.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_47XoPnwaDg
