Award Assemblies: December 3rd – December 6th
We are excited to announce that we will be holding Award Assemblies from December 3rd through December 6th. During these assemblies, we will be honoring many of our students for their hard work and achievements.
If your child is receiving an award, you will be notified so you can attend and celebrate their success with us.
We look forward to recognizing our students and sharing this special moment with you!
Open Enrollment Workshop: Wednesday, December 11th
We will have computers available so you can begin the application process right at the workshop!
We look forward to seeing you there to support you in making the best choices for your child's education.
Open Enrollment for the 2025-26 School Year Starts December 9th
Open enrollment starts Monday, December 9, 2024, at 8:00 AM and ends on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 5:00 PM. During this time, you can apply for your child to attend a school other than your neighborhood school. There must be space available, and you must provide transportation for your child.
Starting November 23, log in to Parent Portal to see your child’s assigned school for the 2025-26 school year. This will help you decide if you want to participate in open enrollment. If you are happy with your child’s assigned school, no further action is needed.
If you would like to apply for a different school, you can complete the open enrollment lottery application starting December 9. Open enrollment applications are part of a lottery system (not first-come, first-served), so you can apply anytime during the enrollment period.

Cold & Flu Season Reminder
With cold and flu season coming up, please keep your student home if they have:
- A fever of 100.4°F or higher (without medication)
- More than one episode of vomiting or diarrhea
- Difficulty participating in school due to loss of appetite, frequent coughing/sneezing, severe sore throat, extreme tiredness, or if they have a headache, stomach ache, or rash along with a sore throat
- Any itchy, scaly rash (check with a doctor first)
- Yellow or green discharge from eyes, ears, or nose
- Pink eye (red, puffy, itchy) – a doctor’s clearance is required
24-Hour Rule:
- Fever-free for 24 hours without medication
- No vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours
- 24 hours after the first dose of antibiotics

Upcoming After-Hours Volunteer Fingerprinting Clinic
In an effort to accommodate schedules for our working community, we are happy to host monthly after-hours volunteer fingerprint clinics at the district office board room (3738 Walnut Avenue, Carmichael) from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:
Thursday, Nov. 14
Thursday, Dec. 5
A valid photo ID is required. Verification forms must be completed before fingerprinting. Forms can be found at www.sanjuan.edu/volunteer.

Dear Dyer Kelly Families,
I hope all of our families had a wonderful Thanksgiving, enjoying time with loved ones. Our staff has really missed seeing our students and is excited to get back to work this week!
I wanted to bring a few important dates to your attention:
Picture Make-Up Day is this Friday, December 6th. If your child missed Picture Day or if you’d like to retake their photo, this is a great opportunity!
Open Enrollment Workshop is this Wednesday, December 11th, from 2:45 PM to 3:45 PM. This is a fantastic chance for our 5th-grade families to learn about choosing the right middle school for their child.
We also have an upcoming Family Skate Night next week! This will be a fun way to meet and connect with other families in our school community.
