March: Nutrition Month
It can be tricky to come up with new and creative lunch ideas when making school lunches every single day. Trying to balance nutritional foods with fun foods that your child will look forward to eating can be tough!
Kids Eat in Color is a team of Registered Dieticians, Therapists, and Child Development Specialists who understand that feeding kids is tricky. They are dedicated to teaching bite-sized strategies to help all caregivers feel better and help their kids eat better.
Kids Eat in Color does not support the concept of “bad food.” Every caregiver, regardless of what food they have access to, what cultural foods they eat, how much energy they have to prepare food, or how extremely picky their child is, is welcomed in the Kids Eat in Color community.
Check out these recipes from Kids Eat in Color on different menu ideas, tasty recipes and realistic planning when packing lunches for the day!

Finishing Well
March 15; and Saturday, March 16 from 6:30 – 8:00pm, we
will start the evening with mass at 6:30 on Thursday and
Friday, but not Saturday. Reconciliation will be available on
Thursday and Friday from 7:00 – 8:00pm. It will be led by
The Seeds of the Word Community from Calgary. There will be something for all
ages and we encourage everyone to come and finish the Lenten season well! There
will be a free will offering. We are looking for some parishioners to provide lunches
and suppers for them. If you would be able to help, please let the office know.
Student Faith Retreat (Seeds of the Word Ministry)
Our students will be participating in a unique faith opportunity to host Seeds of the Word Ministry who will be coming to our school to put on a retreat to our students in grades 1-9 on Thursday, March 14th. The theme of our faith retreat is “Growing, in love with the Father”.
All students enrolled in Religion will be attending the retreat as part of their Religion Program. If your child is enrolled in the Citizenship class and you would prefer them not to participate please email your child’s homeroom teacher or Mrs. Kleparchuk by Wednesday, March 13th.
An alternate activity will be planned for those students who are not participating in the faith retreat.
There will be an opening and closing session with the whole school and then each homeroom will have individual class time to interact with song, activities and worship. A pasta lunch will be served to the entire school with caesar salad and breadsticks. Breaking bread in fellowship and community is a sub-theme for the retreat.
Yes Day (Tues. March 19th) fundraiser for Catholic Social Services
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free..’”
(Luke 4:17-19)
This Lent, all GSACRD school communities are participating in the annual GSACRD Lenten Campaign to raise funds for Catholic Social Services in support of Immigration and Settlement Services and the Refugee Relief Fund. In particular, we are supporting a program called Parenting In Two Cultures.
Parenting in Two Cultures helps refugees, immigrants, and multicultural families learn how to adapt to Canadian culture. This program provides guidance on how to raise healthy, happy families and their children as they build their new lives in Canada while maintaining their ethnic identity. It also helps participants connect with other parents and children who may be facing similar challenges.
Next week the list of items that the students can “HAVE” with their donations will be sent out by the homeroom teachers!
