Attendance Matters: Maximize Learning by Planning Ahead
We understand that medical appointments are a necessary part of life, but whenever possible, we encourage families to schedule them outside of school hours. Each missed class period can result in students missing valuable instructional time, especially in subjects that require daily participation, such as math, science labs or group projects.
If an appointment during school hours is unavoidable, attending part of the school day is important so they don’t fall behind or miss key lessons.
BV Civility Policy
We are thankful for the ongoing partnership and support we experience in our school community. Working together we ensure the best possible student experience allowing them to realize personal success. There are times, however, when issues arise which require our continued collaboration to resolve. Families may utilize the matrix linked on the district website to best address questions and concerns that may arise throughout the course of a school year. Finally, all staff and visitors should conduct their business free from intimidation, harassment, or bullying. The district’s Board of Education states expectations regarding civility within Policy 6341. Again, thank you for your partnership in helping to maintain a safe school community environment for all.

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day–November 14th
On Nov. 14, students across the country will participate in Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day, an annual, commemorative event that honors the courage of Ruby Bridges who made history by becoming the first Black student to integrate an all-white elementary school in New Orleans in 1960. Students across the country now walk to school on this day to commemorate her bravery and continue the important conversation about equality and inclusion. To learn more about Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day, visit https://rubybridges.foundation/. We invite our XXX families to walk to school on November 14th to participate in this nationwide event.
Family Support and Resources
Dear PRMS Families,
I wanted you to know that on our website we will have a link that will go to our social worker and administration to help families in need!! Read below!
We know there may be times when unexpected circumstances present a hardship for families in our community. Blue Valley has resources within each school available to help students through challenging times, including counselors, social workers, school psychologists and building administrators. On the District website, the Student Well-Being page provides valuable information for families who may need support outside of what the school provides.
We also want to make sure you are aware of a Family Support and Resources link under the Families heading on our school website. Information submitted on this form related to a specific situation and family need will be reviewed by the building principals and the school social worker. While we cannot guarantee that we can provide the requested resources, we will do our best to identify and recommend available support.

Reporting an Student Absence
The attendance line is 913-239-5701. You may report a full day or partial day absence on this line. You can also report full day absences via ParenVue
Reminders: Late to First Hour
It is essential that students arrive on time to school so they can be present for all instruction. The following policy will be implemented for students who arrive tardy to 1st hour:
· Teachers begin their classes at 7:51am and every late arrival creates an interruption that takes away from the learning environment - and students often miss key instructional elements when they arrive late.
· We will closely track tardies.
· Each quarter, students can be tardy to 1st hour three times before they must serve time in the morning.
· The tally for tardies resets each quarter. Quarter ends December 20th.
Reminders: Checking Out Your Student
Students must check in with the office before exiting the building. Parents will need to call the office to speak to an office staff member and NOT leave a message on our attendance line, 913-239-5700, when picking up their students. Parents should call 5 minutes prior to pick up to ensure your student arrives at the office for prompt pickup. You do not need to get out of your car. We will send your child out to you once we have confirmed your vehicle.
