September 2024
September is upon us and school is in full swing! Fall is one of my favorite times of the year because the temperature gets a little cooler and everyone is bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for the new year. And with a new year comes new joys, new excitements, and perhaps new trials. However, through the trials, we can lean on one who specializes in the new.
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead..." (1 Peter 1:3)
Let's embrace the new and look forward to what's ahead because God makes us new every morning.
Connection Hour
What the morning looks like:
9:15-9:30 Youth arrive and they can eat snacks
9:30-9:35 Announcements
9:35-9:50 Jr. high go down to the gym to do a game and Sr. high do highs and lows
9:50-10:00 Jr. high and sr. high get settled into the youth room for the lesson
10:00-10:15 Jr. high goes downstairs to discuss while Sr. high stay in the youth room to discuss.
This change has been different and somewhat difficult but is better for flow of the hour, deeper lesson time, and more meaningful conversations and relationships with youth and volunteers.
I will be at an 8th Grade Confirmation Retreat on September 22nd, so all youth will go help with children's ministry that Sunday!
Youth Ministry Parent Meeting
When? Sunday, September 8th at 12:30 pm
Where? Gym
If you are new to youth ministry or have been here for awhile, come join us at our parent meeting this Sunday. We will discuss what youth ministry means and what it looks like looking forward and how parents can help and be supported. We'll also talk about what's coming up in terms of events, mission trips, and winter retreats. Questions will also be answered during this time!
September Serve Day
What is our Junior High Youth event? We love having fun and serving in our ANCHORED youth ministry. And in a few weeks, we can do both!
Zion needs some help around the playground area and we have strong, capable youth to help out! Work will include raking and moving sand into the sandboxes. We want to help make Zion a wonderful place for others and we can do that by helping out where we can! We'll have food afterward!
When is it? Sunday, September 25th from 5-7 pm.
What do I need to bring? A rake and some gloves
