From the Principal's Desk...
Parents and Guardians,
We have a lot information coming home today in the Blue Jay Folders. Here is a quick preview of what to look for:
2nd Trimester Report Cards - Please take out the report card and view it with your son/daughter before signing the envelope and returning it to his/her homeroom teacher.
Attendance Agreement - Any student who is in danger of reaching excessive absences for the year will receive an Attendance Agreement. Please read over the agreement, sign, and return to Mrs. Weinheimer by Tuesday, March 5th.
Conference Forms - Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 14th. If you are interested in signing up for a conference, please fill out the form and return it by Wednesday, March 6th.

Lastly, I hope to see everyone tonight at our PTO membership meeting this evening. The meeting will be held in the cafeteria at 7pm. Anne Flick and Erin Reder will be discussing MAP scores with the parents in attendance. Please bring your son/daughter’s Winter MAP scores to the meeting.

Conferences
Family conferences will be held on Thursday, March 14th from 3:30-7:00 pm. All conferences will be scheduled with your children's homeroom teacher. Students in all grades are welcome to attend.
If your child is doing well and you are satisfied with their progress, you are NOT required to schedule a conference. If any teachers has concerns, they will specifically request a conference.
Paper forms were sent home on Wednesday in the Blue Jay Folders. If you follow the link below and fill out the Google form, you do NOT need to send in a paper copy.
Student Council Toy Drive February 25 - 29
Fine Arts Night March 12: Grades 1-3
We invite all families with students in grades 1-3 to join us for Fine Arts Night on March 12th at 7:00 pm. Fine Arts Night is a special evening devoted to celebrating art and music in our school. Our annual Scholastic Book Fair will also be taking place in the school library during the event. Please stop by and support your child's love for reading!
The church doors will open at 6:30 pm and we ask that all students sit with their families. We are also requesting that students dress their best; no athletic wear please. Following the concert, students and their families may view art work in the school's cafeteria. Every student will have a piece of art on display.

Spots Still Available for 3 Yr. Old Preschool Classes
We still have some openings for the 2024-25 school year in our 3 year old preschool classes. Our 3's classes are held on Mondays and Tuesdays from either 9:00-11:30 am or 12:15-2:45 pm.

Re-Registration Fee Increases to $300 After March 8th
Reminder that after March 8th, the $225 re-registration fee will increase to $300. If you have not paid your $225 registration fee for the 2024--25 school year, please do so as soon as possible to avoid the increase. Payments can be made by sending cash or check (payable to St. John the Baptist School) to the school office or by logging into your FACTS account to make the payment.
***If you are enrolled in FACTS auto-pay and you have not paid your re-registration fee by March 8th, $225 will automatically be deducted from your bank account/credit card.
Ed Choice Scholarships
The enrollment period for 2024-25 Ed Choice Scholarships, both Traditional and Expansion, is now open. You may also visit our website stjohnsdrschool.org under the Admissions/Financial Aid tab for scholarship information and application forms.
Win a $500 Referral Credit
We had a record number of prospective families come to Open House and the feedback thus far has been very positive! Please keep spreading the word....refer a new family to St. John's School and upon their official registration, you will be entered into a drawing to win a $500 credit that can be applied toward tuition, lunches or spirit wear.
Book Buddies
Miranda Weisenberger, a 2020 alum of St. John's and a current Senior at Badin High School, is partnering with the Hamilton Lane Library for her Senior Service Project. Her project consists of having children practice their reading skills with a senior from Badin. If you are interested, they are looking for more children to join the program. Registration is required. Please see flier below for more details.
Spectacular Gala Volunteers Needed

We are looking for volunteers to join the planning committee for our School Spectacular Gala in November.
- Chairperson/Co-Chairs for the 2025 event: Our current Chairperson, Erika Tonne, is seeking someone to "shadow" her this year and then takeover the event in 2025.
- Committee Members There are many different ways to help with this event including obtaining sponsorships & donations, silent auction, decorations, set-up, tear-down, and more.

Damascus Confirmation Retreat
As our 7th and 8th grade students prepare for Confirmation, they have been given the opportunity to attend a 3-day Damascus Confirmation retreat in Centerburg, Ohio. Our first group left last Friday after school and had a great weekend at the retreat center. These retreats are designed to awaken middle school students to the love and presence of God and to give them an experiential understanding of the beauty of the Catholic Church & the adventure of a life lived in relationship with God. Our last group will attend March 8-10.
"T" is for Trumpet and Trombone
While on the letter "T," preschoolers welcomed two special visitors from St. John's Band to play the Trombone and Trumpet.

Penny War Winners
Last Thursday, our three winning grades for the Penny Wars were treated to an Out of Uniform day and some special treats.
- First Place: 3rd grade enjoyed pizza for lunch.
- Second Place: 1st grade received ice cream sundaes at the end of the school day.
- Third Place: Kindergarten had Ross Bakery donuts awaiting them at arrival.

Due to lack of volunteers and feedback received, we regret to inform you that the decision has been made to cancel the PTO Spring Fling 2024 fundraising trip to Nashville. We are sharing more interest in a fundraising social event one-day trip. We are excited to plan a weekend event open for all parents and community friends!

Mercy McAuley Grade School Theatre Night
Fifth - 8th grade girls are invited to be the first audience to see Once Upon a Mattress at our Grade School Theatre Night on Thursday, March 21! Future Wolves will enjoy pizza at 5 p.m. and will meet the director, cast and crew. Then, at 5:30 p.m. they will watch the dress rehearsal of the musical! The show is expected to conclude at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the March 21 Grade School Theatre Night is free, but registration is required at www.mercymcauley.org/mattress.

Mercy McAuley Hosts Jumpstart Night for 5th-7th Grade Girls & Parents
Fifth-seventh grade girls and their parents are invited to get a jumpstart in exploring Mercy McAuley on Tuesday, April 16, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Parents will tour the school and choose FOUR of the following breakout sessions: Academics; Faith & Service; Athletics & Clubs; Student Panel; Financial Aid & Scholarships; Admissions Process. Separately, future Wolves will participate in fun activities with Mercy McAuley teachers, staff and students in different areas of the building. They’ll explore the campus and see firsthand why it’s GREAT to be a Wolf! Registration is required at www.mercymcauley.org/jumpstart.

St. Xavier Summer Camps
We are excited to offer a variety of summer camps where prospective students, boys and girls in grade school, will meet new friends, explore the St. Xavier campus and experience the core tenets of a Jesuit education. Through hands-on, community-based activities, St. Xavier’s teachers and coaches promote fun summer experiences filled with learning opportunities. Minecraft, filmmaking, guitar, acting, makers space, and a variety of sports camps are offered.
Class of 2029 only: St. Xavier is offering the Summer Enrichment Program. Through a mix of academic, cultural, social, and athletic activities, the SEP provides an excellent opportunity for students to become acquainted with life at St. X. Students will make a film, break out of an escape room, and build and race a soap box derby car. Register your son today for a fun-filled summer of meeting future classmates and having fun. This program is offered to rising 8th-grade boys only.

Docentitos Academy
The Cincinnati Arts Association's Weston Art Gallery announces the twenty-sixth season of its award winning art ambassadorial program, Docentitos. This two-week summer camp is for children between the ages of 9 and 12 and takes place in the Weston Art Gallery in the Aronoff Center for the Arts. Daily activities include classes, artist talks, theater tours, workshops, installation and studio visits, script rehearsals, field trips and art projects. CancerFree KIDS Night for the Fight at TQL Stadium
SJB Class of 2021: Tyler Hilgeman (Badin), Ryann Templin (Mount Notre Dame), Max Milbourn (Moeller), Ryan League (Badin) and Noah Ellis (Badin)
We are proud to share that a handful of former Blue Jays, including those pictured here as well as four others from the SJB Class of 2022, took part in a fundraising event last weekend to raise money for pediatric cancer research.
The CancerFree KIDS Night for the Fight brought over 1,200 high school students together for a 12-hour overnight event. Presented by TQL Foundation and held at 5/3 Arena at the University of Cincinnati, this fundraising event was planned by the students and filled with games, food, fun and inspiration.
As of today, CancerFree KIDS' Night for the Fight has raised almost $300,000 in funds for pediatric cancer research.

Lenten Fish Fry
Both St. John the Baptist and St. John Neumann will host a weekly Fish Fry on Fridays during lent starting February 17th. More details will be published in the coming weeks at www.theblessedtrinityfamily.org.

Ladies' Game Night
The St. John Neumann Women’s Organization will host Ladies' Game Night on Saturday, March 2 from 7-11 pm in Daniel Hall. Women 21 and up from any parish are welcome and encouraged to bring friends! There will be Split the Pot and amazing basket raffles! Drinks will be provided. Bring an appetizer, $10, and fun board games of your choice.
