Solo/Ensemble and Vocal Contest Results
Rothsay hosted Instrumental Solo/Ensemble this year at MSUM on Tuesday, March 11th. We had 22 entries and overall, had a very successful day! Of the 22 groups, 12 received a Superior Rating, which qualifies them to move on to the state level on May 3rd in Morris. This is a great opportunity for our students and I am proud of their hard work!
Seven students competed at the region 6A vocal contest on Wednesday, March 12. All groups performed very well, and scored high marks! Of the four groups, three received and "Superior" rating and qualify for State Contest, and the remaining group narrowly missed a superior by one point, but still received an "Excellent" rating. Congratulations to Seniors: Siri, Allison, Andrea; Juniors: Amanda and Lauren; Sophomore Emma; and Freshman: Alexus. The students also helped manage the day as Rothsay was the "host school" this year.
Band/Choir Trip:
The Band and Choir students will be taking a trip to Minneapolis/St. Paul on Friday, April 4th and Saturday April 5th. We will be visiting Can Can Wonderland, The Mall of America, a Twin's Stadium Tour and a Twin's Game. We will also be going to the show "Mousetrap" by Agatha Christie at the Guthrie Theater and staying at The Great Wolf Lodge to enjoy some time in the water park.
Upcoming Concerts:
- April 10: K-4 Elementary Concert
- May 1: 5-12 Band/Choir Concert

The following 6th graders participated in the Math Masters competition held at Lakes Country Service Cooperative on Thursday, March 13: Tahmor Brandt, Emma Froslie, Libby Larson, Nora Schafer, and Brody Umlauf.
The contest included individual and team components, including: a fact drill round, individual problem-solving rounds, and group problem-solving rounds. The 6th grade topics can include properties of numbers, geometry, pre-algebra, decimals, percent, fractions, statistics, and probability.
There were 15 teams and 66 participants at this contest. Highlights include Brody placing in the top third for the fact drill round, and Tahmor's individual round scores placing him in the top half overall. I'm glad we were able to participate in the event!
