Evacuation Route Practice
Lockdown, Barricade Practice
The safety and wellbeing of our staff and your children is our highest priority; it always has been. We employ the best school safety practices (ALICE) and work with our local police and fire departments to seek every opportunity to ensure our students and staff are safe.
ALICE is the safety protocol we use. Please read below to find out more about the guidelines and recommendations that WCSD will be following in an effort to provide a safe and secure environment at all district locations.
ALICE
ALERT Get the word out! Use your classroom phone/PA to alert staff - Initiate ALICE!
Initiate ALICE! Initiate ALICE!
Lockdown Students and staff can choose to lockdown and barricade in the room that they
are in if they determine it is not safe to evacuate.
Inform Pass on as much information as possible to others and to the First Responders,
including contacting 911.
Counter As an effort of last resort, if an armed intruder is able to get into the barricaded
space, staff and students are being trained to use every effort to stop the intruder instead being passive victims.
Evacuate If it is safe to do so, all are encouraged to evacuate the building, and remove
themselves from the threat. Lake Winneconne Park is our evacuation site. Our family reunification site is the Omro School District.
During the week of October 21-25, 2024, Safe Schools Week, staff will discuss the ALICE protocol with your child(ren) and practice using the evacuation route as well as practicing lockdown and barricade procedures. The practices will be weather dependent.
