PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
I hope you all had a lovely and relaxing long weekend. The weather has certainly out done itself this week and I feel like everyone's entered "summer mode" already!
We have 3 school days left and they promise to be busy and fun and we plan on ensuring that we start summer off with smiles and laughter!
Please remember that school will finish early on Wednesday, June 7th at 2:30pm. CAP will run from 2:30pm that day.
Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you for our last three days!

PATTON WALKATHON FUNDRAISER (NEW POST!)
We have counted coins, checks, and wads of dollar bills and are delighted to announce that our 16th annual Walk-a-Thon fundraiser to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation raised a whopping......(drum roll please)......$7,369.84!
We are blown away by your generosity and are so incredibly grateful for you all!
The money will go to an incredibly worthy cause and, as always, we feel very humbled to be able to support it so generously every year!
FIELD DAY (NEW POST!)
Field Day will take place on the morning of Monday, June 5th and we could not be more excited!!
Mr Dolniak has created an amazing schedule of fun events for our Panthers to take part in! The first event whistle will blow at 9:25am and students will be outside for most of the morning so please apply that sunscreen before school! Please check the weather, and have your children dress accordingly. Hats and reusable water bottles are welcome (please ensure these are labelled). Please also know that there will be a couple of water-based activities so students may get wet. This is always such a fun morning and I can't wait for it!
IMPORTANT NOTICE - LOST AND FOUND
All Lost and Found items will be on display outside the main entrance. Parents are encouraged to look through the lost and found as it has grown daily. It may look like a store due to the large stock of jackets, hoodies, water bottles, etc. After field day, all remaining items will be donated.
LIBRARY BOOKS & SUMMER READING (NEW POST!)
Please remember to return all your Patton Library books! If you have received an "overdue reminder" notice from the library team and can't find the books, please reach out to Mrs Hemmer (shemmer@sd25.org) or Mrs Kownick (skownick@sd25.org).
If you are looking for some reading ideas for the summer, the District 25 librarians have put together summer reading suggestions for grades K-2 and 3-5! Please see below!
Keep up the reading over the summer!

FUTURE BAND OPPORTUNITIES AT PATTON (2nd POST!)
This week, the whole school enjoyed a concert by the Patton Beginning Band! Most students in D25 begin their band experience in fifth grade. There are many instruments from which students may choose. There is no requirement for previous musical experience for most instruments, but if a student wishes to learn percussion (drums, mallets, bells, etc.), there is a requirement that the student must first have 2 years of formal piano lessons. More information about this and all the instruments offered in fifth grade and beyond may be found here: Elementary Band Information

JUNE "DATES TO KNOW"
PARENT ACADEMY - (Ongoing post)
The District recently launched its new Parent Academy newsletter and page on the website.
The goal of Parent Academy is to provide learning opportunities for parents to better understand ways to support their students’ academic success and personal well-being. We welcome parents and families to engage in various activities and events to explore topics related to mental health, well-being, equity and inclusion, and academics. Please visit the website (www.sd25.org/ParentAcademy) for archived newsletters, further resources and information, or to submit an idea/topic for the next Parent Academy newsletter.
Traffic Team - Substitutes Needed (Ongoing Post)
We have a truly AMAZING PTA traffic team that ensure our Panthers arrive to and depart from school safely and on time! If you would like to help out, please consider signing up as a substitute by filling in this form. It helps our traffic team enormously to know that there are subs available should someone fall sick or be unavailable. You can indicate if you only have availability for AM or PM and will receive a group text when there is a need. You can volunteer if you are available, but no pressure if you are not available. Any help is appreciated and benefits so many of our students. Believe it or not, even if you can only help twice during the year, your contribution is welcome and needed. Thanks so much in advance!
