Week of April 21
This Week: Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week (TAW) is in full swing and we are excited to shower our Balboa teachers and staff for all they do for our scholars, families, and Balboa community. This morning they enjoyed a latte and sweet treat organized by our TAW organizers and this is just the beginning of this week's celebrations! Please review the flyer below and make plans to show your teacher and favorite staff appreciation! On Friday, the BSC will host an Appreciation Luncheon. If you are able to volunteer please contact virginiamines12@gmail.com.
As a reminder, here are this week's activities:
- Monday - Bring in your teacher's favorite treat, drink, snack or gift card
- Tuesday - Wear you teacher's favorite color to school
- Wednesday - Bring in your teacher's favorite school supply
- Thursday - No School
- Friday - Scholars write their teacher a thank you note. The room parents will also present the classroom gift on behalf of your class.
If you have questions about any of the above, please reach out to us or your Room Parent.
This morning our teachers and staff enjoyed a latte and sweet treat to welcome them back from Spring Break!

Get Your Yearbook Order In
Thanks to all of the parents that have been helping keep our morning dropoff line running smoothly.
Please volunteer for just a few minutes in the morning to help get our scholars out of their cars and into campus safely and efficiently. It helps calm traffic and keeps everyone safer. You do not need to be an approved volunteer to help with this. It will only take an extra 15-20 minutes each morning and will make a big difference.
Please signup here if you are able to make a weekly commitment.
And please be sure to slow down in the mornings and keep your little ones buckled up until they are ready to get out!! Please try to arrive a few minutes early so every scholar is in line for class before the bell rings.
The mornings have been perfect for our scholars to get out, demonstrate sportsmanship, and have some fun during Psychomotor.
We need approved volunteers to help supervise out on the yard. The signup sheet is up to date with all dates the rest of the school year. Please click here to signup.
Yearbook Committee
It takes a great deal of effort to put together our yearbook. Please help by joining the yearbook committee and distribute the work amongst a group of dedicated and creative volunteers. Click here to read the different opportunities and signup.
On Campus Volunteer
Our teachers can always use a little help in the classroom. Register to be an on-campus volunteer to help out during the school day. There are plenty of ways to help out. To learn more and to apply, please visit the LAUSD Volunteer Portal. You need to re-apply for each school year.
