May 2024
END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES
Many activities are going on over the next several weeks, but most importantly, we are still
conducting classes through the end of the day on Thursday, May 23rd. Please check in at the office if you are volunteering during one of these events. The school will not be open for spectators during these events. For safety reasons and to keep in line with school corporation guidelines, we ask that
volunteers do not go to classrooms or the playground area (for all grades Kdg. - 4) after the
conclusion of the events. The students will be released in the usual manner each day. All changes
in transportation must go through the office. Calls should not be made at the school on the day of
the event to ask permission for a student to go home with another student. These arrangements
should be made before the school day. We need to have this information from the parent/guardian
of both students. This is for the safety and protection of students and teachers, one of our primary
concerns here at Cortland Elementary.
END OF YEAR MEDICATION PICKUP
Last day for medication pick-up for Cortland is Thursday, May 23rd. Medications will be discarded on Friday, May 24th unless other arrangements have been made in advance with the School Nurse!
CHROMEBOOK TURN IN DATE!
Please watch for a letter to come home with your child and attached to the weekly reminder about the process of your child turning in their Chromebooks. All students must turn in their Chromebook, case, and charger to their classrooms on Wednesday May 22nd. Please make sure your child has all items ready to turn in on time. Starting Monday, May 20th, students will not be bringing Chromebooks home.
Proper Dress Habits
WARM WEATHER DRESS CODE REMINDER
This is a friendly reminder about the dress code for the last few
weeks of school...
Shoes - No flip flops - must have an enclosed toe and a strap
across the heel.
Shirts: Bare midsections, tube tops, tank tops, spaghetti straps, and baggy or alternative-style
dress is not permitted.
Shorts: Bicycle shorts or tight-fitting shorts may not be worn. The principal and staff’s guideline for
length is to have the student stand with their arms hanging limp at their sides. The shorts are
appropriate if they can touch the hem of their shorts without curling their fingers back toward their
wrist.
These policies are in place for the safety of our students.
