Dear parents and carers.
It has been lovely to have so much sunshine this week. We have enjoyed taking our learning outside and making the most of being outside the classroom. Despite the wet end to the week, we are hoping this is the beginning of some good weather!
Our week ended with a fantastic worship from our year 3 children in Luther King class. They told their audience all about the learning they have been doing this year, from the impressively-long, collaborative cave painting they created during their Stone Age topic, to the exciting new maths skills they now have. As a school, we have been thinking about oracy skills, and how we need to think about how loudly and clearly we speak in different situations, so it was lovely to see how well the year 3 children demonstrated their great skills.
As many of you already know, Miss Graham, our lovely teaching assistant in Attenborough class, leaves us next Friday to start a job outside of education. We are obviously very sorry to see her go, but wish her well in her new adventures. She has been an amazing part of our team for many years, and I know how much of an impact she has had on so many of our children over her time here.
Last week, the interviews took place for a new head teacher for our school for September. It has been an absolute privilege to lead the school for these two terms, and I am so grateful for the support from parents and our amazing staff team. I did not apply for the position, as I feel it is too soon to permanently leave the classroom and to give up some of the other roles I have, having come into teaching later in life. We are all looking forward to welcoming Mrs Warmsley into our school community and she is so excited to be joining us.
I hope you have a safe and restorative bank holiday weekend.
