ADMINISTRATION
Jaguar Families,
We're headed into the second week of this third quarter and we are definitely already up at full speed with lots happening and lots to look forward to. There are lots of highlights to share from this past week.
On Tuesday, students attended a one hour Fentanyl Awareness educational assembly called Arrive Alive. It was very important and impactful and it was clear students were engaged and took it seriously. More information is below.
EGPD’s Media and Community Relations officers spent the day on campus Wednesday, January 8, doing presentations during all PE classes on anti-bullying and social media awareness. It was fantastic information and they will be coming back in term 4 to present to the rest of students during PE class.
As part of the Elk Grove CORE Recreation Center project—Cosumnes CSD’s new $30M health and fitness center opening in June—international artist, Sijia Chen, has been hired to create a public art piece for the project. Part of Sijia’s process is to engage the community for their input to help create an art piece that reflects the community. With that, Sijia hosted student two workshops at Toby Johnson Middle School on Wednesday, January 8, in Mr. Shilen's afternoon art classes. It was FANTASTIC! You too can submit your feedback or art to be included in her final art piece! Information is below.

Last week ALL students attended a Fentanyl Awareness Assembly. This assembly provided an interactive experience for youth, raising awareness about the real problem of fentanyl poisoning in Sacramento County. Drug-related deaths are increasingly affecting individuals beyond those battling addiction. Drug dealers are reaching out to children through social media and money transfer apps, leading to tragic consequences. The Arrive Alive program featured expert speakers, including professionals from the Crime Lab, Drug Recognition Experts, the Department of Health Services, medical professionals, and local families impacted by the fentanyl crisis. This initiative has proven to be very effective in saving lives. For more information, please visit their website: https://www.arrivealiveca.com/one-pill-can-kill.
