South MS Friday Blast
October 11, 2024
Weekly Wrap-Up
What a fun week we had at South MS! And the weather could not have been better for all of our outdoor events! 6th, 7th, and 8th grade all enjoyed "Lunch on the Lawn" with family and friends, our PBIS celebration is always a bouncing good time for our students, and tonight is our first dance of the year. Soccer and field hockey wrapped up their seasons with their last games, we wore our favorite Hawaiian/tropical outfits for spirit day, and our 8th graders met to learn about the program offerings for the Upper Bucks County Technical School. Some weeks are busier than others and we sure packed in the events this week!
On a more solemn note, we send our thoughts and prayers to everyone who has family, friends, and loved ones who have been effected by the recent hurricanes. We hope everyone is safe and minimally effected by Mother Nature's wrath.

Homework Club
We are less than 3 weeks away from the end of the first marking period. Students who are feeling a bit overwhelmed or just need a little help with their homework are encouraged to come to Homework Club from 3:00 - 4:15PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A teacher and/or teaching assistant will be available to help get students back on track with their school work so they aren't trying to play catch-up at the end of the marking period. Students do not need to sign-up ahead of time and are invited to attend as needed. Parents/guardians can pick-up their child after Homework Club or students can take the 4:15PM bus home. Keep in mind that the 4:15PM bus sometimes covers a large territory so it may take additional time to get all the students home. As always, we are here to help.
Positive Messages Assignment
Ms. Johnson's 8th grade art students were tasked with creating a Positive Message Poster where they were to choose a positive quote or lyric (or make their own), and through the use of colors, visually represent it. Reading these messages is a great way to start your day. Thank you, 8th grade, for making South MS a positive place to learn!
"SOCK-TOBER"
Attention Pennridge Community!
We're very excited to coordinate this worthwhile effort with you as we turn October into "SOCK-TOBER." You will see a box in all of our schools as we are asking you to consider donating new socks to fill these boxes. Throughout October, all Pennridge Schools will be collecting as many socks as we can for two organizations that help the homeless in our region. "Socks for the Streets" is based in Bucks County and we are also helping the "Giving Tree" organization which is also the group that our staff and students at North Middle School help annually. Please consider printing out or sharing the flyer (see above image) wherever you wish to help get the word and then, help us by filling these boxes! Let's work together and make our 1st-ever "Sock-Tober" as successful as it can be! All our best and thanks, in advance, for your help and support!
Sip, Support, and Stay Refreshed!
