From the Principal
Copeland families,
What a fun last two weeks! Thank you to everyone who came out for our Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grade Dance Across Texas performances. They did a wonderful job and were precious. We appreciate the hard work of Coach Linhart, Coach DeLeon, and our PEAM team. The PTO out did themselves with the wonderful decorations once again. It was a huge success!
Today all of our students got to participate in EPIC Play Day, another event put on by our amazing PTO. This was the culminating event for our Spring fundraiser, and our students enjoyed being outside playing on the inflatables. The students reported that it was EPIC! We truly appreciate all the PTO does for our campus. We appreciate your generosity to our fundraisers, as these are the funds we use to pay for things like field trips, the garden, and other amazing events. We love that our PTO is committed to all of our students being able to experience field trips! Without these funds, these trips would not be possible!
We loved being able to celebrate Ms. Rebecca McConnell last night as Copeland's Teacher of the Year. It was a lovely evening to honor someone so deserving. Congratulations again, Ms. McConnell!
I hope everyone has an amazing Spring Break. We look forward to seeing our staff and students back on March 17th. It is hard to believe that we will be in our final stretch to the finish line. We will jump back in and hit the ground running as we give our best efforts for our final push to STAAR testing and finishing up the year. Always remember, "Every Colt counts, every moment matters."

Copeland Student Places in the Top 200 in the HSLR Creativity Contest
3rd grade student, Mateo Grimco, made it to the TOP 200 contest entries for the HLSR Creativity Contest and received a blue ribbon and grounds passes for the Rodeo! The talent of the third graders this round was mind-blowing, but despite such tough competition, Mateo persevered to reach the top. If you go to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, stop by the Art Exhibit in the NRG Center, where his artwork is on display for every Rodeo attendee to see.

Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd Graders 'Dance Across Texas'!
Our Kindergarten through 2nd graders cut a rug on Friday, February 28th for our annual 'Dance Across Texas' event. Each year on 'Go Texan Day', our primary students perform western dances that they have learned in PE class, and it is such a fun experience!

Students in grades K-5 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level. Students will only have one opportunity to test for each grade level considered.
To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered in a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.
Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam will qualify to advance one grade. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. No retests will be given.
If you are interested in getting more information about credit-by-exam, please contact the school counselor.
