MATC SPOTLIGHT!
This week WHS would like to spotlight Trinity Dotson, a junior student in the Health Careers Explorer program at MATC.Trinity’s reason for choosing this program is to get a better idea of what she wants to do after high school. She will be certified in CPR as well as a CNA at the completion of her program. Her favorite thing about attending MATC is meeting new people. Trinity’s plans after high school are to attend college.
CONGRATULATIONS, DUGAN & CASON!
Congratulations to Dugan Caldwell and Cason Lindsey on earning 6th place at the Marietta FFA Red River Rumble Thursday! The welding contest was a cumulative score of a written test, tool ID, and a build off. They worked very hard and earned a nice stack of prizes and tools to use in future contests!
GATSBY PROJECT!
Mrs. Luck's Junior English students have been hard at work studying the novel, The Great Gatsby. They were tasked with creating an outside of the box project. Below are some of the results!
A couple of our MATC carpentry students, Brylan Williams & Gabe Smith, used their learned skills to design theirs. Brylan designed Wilson's Garage and Gabe made the "Eyes of TJ Eckleburg". Jake Everett made a diorama complete with Gatsby's gold car and the green light that symbolized the American Dream and Daisy. Deagan Dixon's billboard was beautiful and even included boulders at the bottom of his sign. These are just a few of the creative projects. Many students chose to do class presentations where they researched the 1920's and presented to the class. They all did a great job!
