Wayne-Westland Innovative Academy
Communication for October 7, 2024
2024/2025 School Year
Dear Students, Staff, and Families,
As we dive into Week 7 of the quarter, we want to take a moment to celebrate your hard work and dedication. With the end of the quarter approaching, it’s essential to stay focused and finish strong!
The Importance of Attendance Every day in class matters! Consistent attendance not only helps you stay on track with your studies but also allows you to engage with your teachers and classmates. Remember, being present is a key step towards achieving your academic goals.
Positive Behavior Counts We’re proud of the positive behavior we see in our halls and classrooms. Let's keep that momentum going! Respecting one another and creating a supportive environment benefits us all. Be mindful of your actions and continue to uplift your classmates.
Turning in Assignments on Time As the quarter nears its end, it’s crucial to keep up with assignments. Please be sure to turn in your work on time to avoid last-minute stress. If you’re struggling with a task, don’t hesitate to reach out for help. Your teachers are here to support you.
Stay in Your Assigned Areas To maintain a safe and productive learning environment, please remain in your assigned areas at all times. This helps keep our school orderly and allows everyone to focus on their assignments. This also helps to keep the learning environment orderly.
Punctuality Matters Being on time to class is essential. Arriving late can disrupt not only your learning but also that of your classmates. Aim to be seated and ready to learn when the bell rings. Also, please stay in your assigned areas during class. Lastly, please do not leave class without a pass.
Striving for Greatness As we approach the end of the quarter, we recognize the hard work each of you has put in academically. We encourage you to keep pushing yourselves and striving for greatness! Your efforts now will pay off in the long run.
Let’s finish this quarter strong! Keep up the great work, and remember that your teachers and peers are here to support you. Together, we can achieve amazing things!
Stay motivated, stay engaged, and let’s make these last few weeks count!
Educationally yours,
Mr. K. Rosser

Attendance Policy Information
Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school on time every day and stays throughout the whole day. Consistent attendance throughout the school day allows your child to engage in learning and maximize their educational opportunities fully.
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
