Newsletter 14, Week 7 Term 3
Waiau School ⎪ 9th September 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora e te whānau,
Last week both classes each had an outing that was exciting and provided opportunities to meet new friends and play games. The year 1-3 students were invited to Amuri Area School and from all accounts they had a lovely time exploring the big library, playing games with a rubber chicken and other various sporting items!
The senior class entered two teams in the 7 Aside tournament held at Hurunui College. Both teams showed determination, competitiveness and a huge amount of sportsmanship topped off with a lot of natural ability. Year 4-5 team were undefeated 7 wins and 1 draw. The year 5-6 team had a number of wins and a couple of very close games. The students represented our school with pride and it was a well organised day.
Both of these experiences were only possible by parents volunteering to transport students to the locations. We really appreciated your support and encouragement at both venues. It is great to be able to access events like these now, as covid has previously impacted school events such as the 7 Aside tournament.
In week 9 we all travel to Scargill Domain for a fun day of Kiwi Sports challenges.
Many thanks to those of you who have given us feedback in our recent community consultation survey. We will work through the surveys and report back to you by the end of this term.
There is a lot to look forward to over the next 3 weeks, I hope you are able to join us at all or some of the events planned. I know our students love having their parents share in their school experiences. From the perspective of the staff, we would not be able to offer such a variety of learning experiences if we did not have such proactive parents.
Mā te wā, (see you soon)
Megan
