Returning Student Registration
School Year 2024 - 2025

Returning Student Registration Timeline
- April 8th - ONLINE REGISTRATION will OPEN for returning students. Information with instructions on how complete the registration will be emailed to families the week of April 1st.
April 15 - May 15th - Online registration assistance for families will be available at your child(ren)’s school(s) by appointment. More information to come.
May 1st - All families that have received an email from the registrar that are required to provide proof of residency will be able to email the documents to their child(ren)’s school. Please review the email on how and where to email your proof of residency.
May 1st - If you are providing proof of residency with an Affidavit, the Affidavits for 2024-2025 will be available for download from the Gurnee School District 56 website and at each school building.
June 7th - LAST DAY to submit online registration to receive a $20 discount on school fees for each of your students.
Summer Break - Registration assistance available through the summer. Use this link to schedule an appointment for regular business hours https://bit.ly/3RooK5w. Please call the district office for times outside of normal hours.
August 5th - LAST DAY for families to COMPLETE online registration, in order for your child(ren) to start school on the first day of school - August 21, 2024.
August 5th - LAST DAY for families that received an email requiring you to submit PROOF OF RESIDENCY in order for your child(ren) to start school on the first day of school - August 21, 2024.
There will be an app added to your child’s iPad called "D56 Registration" starting on April 8, 2024. (View picture of the app to the right.)

All students who will be returning to Gurnee School District 56 for the 2024-2025 school year MUST complete the online registration process beginning April 8, 2024 through August 5, 2024.
To complete the online registration for your student for the 2024-2025 school year, log into your Skyward Family Access.
Residency verification will be completed for all returning students using the electronic residency verification process.
A letter will be sent via email the week of April 22, 2024 to families whose residency can not be verify electronically. The letter will provide details on additional information you will need to provide by August 5, 2024, in order to register your child for the upcoming school year.
Registration staff will be reviewing all emailed proof of residency to ensure proof of residency documents are current and accurate. You will be notified if there is any issues with the proof of residency you have submitted.
ONLY: ALL FAMILIES THAT RECEIVED AN EMAIL REQUIRING FOR PROOF OF RESIDENCY NEED TO SUBMIT THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS.
Affidavit
Residency Affidavits are required to be renewed each school year. All families that register with an affidavit will be required to submit affidavit documents along with proof of residency. The Affidavits for 2024-2025 will be available for download from the Gurnee School District 56 website, on May 1, 2024. If you do not have access to a computer or printer, please contact the registrar for assistance. The affidavits will also be available at all 4 schools and at the District Office.
If a parent/guardian is living with a relative or friend, the following process should be followed:
- Completed PARENT and RESIDENT affidavit, with the current date and ALL sections complete and notarized
- Present category 1 and 2 items associated with the homeowners identified on the affidavit
- Parent/Guardian and Homeowner's driver's license or state ID

Category 1 (one document)
- Disclosure Statement or HUD - 1(New Home Purchase)
- Current Monthly Mortgage Statement
- Current Real Estate Tax Bill
Category 2 (two documents showing CURRENT ADDRESS within the last 30 days)
- Gas, Electric, Water, Waste Management
- Credit Card Bill (Visa, MC, AMex, Discover)
- Current Home Insurance/ Auto Insurance Document
- Bank Statement
School Fees 2024 - 2025
School Fees for the 2024- 2025 will be available to view and make payments on your Skyward Family Access in August 2024. Stay tune for more information.
The School Fee Waiver application for the 2024-2025 school year will be available August 2024.
