Celebrating Catholic Education and the Month of Mary!
Thank you to all who participated in the various Catholic Education Week activities and for those that wore blue and showed up for our group photo above.
Grace contest winners who were celebrated at mass at St. Francis last weekend to honor Catholic Education were: Paige Cameron, Brittany Atkinson, and Grace Guillemette.
May is the month in which the earth springs into bloom (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) and we start thinking about planting gardens, family picnics, and making vacation plans. May is also the Month of Mary! For centuries, the Catholic Church has set aside the entire month of Mary to honor Mary, Mother of God. Not just a day in May, mind you, but the entire month. Click here for ideas of how your family can honor Mary in your home.
Plant Sale Wrap Up!
A Prayer in Gratitude for Our Mothers.
Good and Gentle God, ... You who became human through a woman, grant to all mothers the courage they need to face the uncertain future that life with children always brings. Give them the strength to live and to be loved in return, not perfectly, but humanly.
Thank you to all who participated in this years Lent Mother's Day Plant Sale! The high school leaders (Cassandra Baska, Katie Stobbe, Elizabeth Rogers, and Rian Burke) did a fantastic job facing all the obstacles that came up on delivery day. Our vendor Evergreen Greenhouse out of Red Deer apologizes for the issues they had with their transportation company (the order was delayed several times on the day of delivery) and to make it up to us they have donated a number of planters including the one in the photo above. Everyone who participated in the sale will get one entry for a draw to win the baskets (one draw entry for each $20 spent). Winners will be notified in the week to come and names will be taken from our order and delivery list - no need to contact us to enter the draw.
Grade 6 Birch Bay Trip!
All of our grade 6 students were blessed to go on a trip to Birch Bay Ranch recently for an unforgettable experience. The camp purpose is to provide activities and facilities that allow kids and adults alike to grow physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually as they develop self-esteem, teamwork skills, independence and a love of nature, physical activity and the outdoors. All of this takes place in a warm, Christian atmosphere with positive and encouraging staff members. Activities at the Ranch include climbing walls, ziplines, horseback riding, archery and other target-shooting activities, gym and field sports, arts and crafts and more. Thanks to our grade 6 teachers, especially Mrs. Welke for organizing this event for our students!

Book Recommendation
Book Recommended: The Unlikely Hero of Room 13 B
Author: Teresa Toten
Recommended By: Mrs Power (OLMP Educational Assistant)
Book Description: When Adam meets Robyn at a support group for kids coping with obsessive-compulsive disorder, he is drawn to her almost before he can take a breath. He's determined to protect and defend her--to play Batman to her Robyn--whatever the cost. But when you're fourteen and the everyday problems of dealing with divorced parents and step-siblings are supplemented by the challenges of OCD, it's hard to imagine yourself falling in love. How can you have a "normal" relationship when your life is so fraught with problems? And that's not even to mention the small matter of those threatening letters Adam's mother has started to receive.
Why it is Recommended: Its an Amazing book, I could not put it down. It focuses on teens who have mental health issues and the struggles they deal with on a daily basis.
