Operation Christmas Card
2024
What is it?
Operation Christmas Card is a project to collect Christmas cards for the local nursing home residents of Wilkes County. This means that anyone who lives in any of the following nursing facilities will get a special Christmas card this year:
- Westwood Hills (about 100 residents)
- Accordious/Ridge Valley (about 103 residents)
- Rose Glenn Manor (about 55 residents)
- Rose Glen Village (about 80 residents)
- Wilkes Rehab & Habilitation (about 113 residents)
- Wilkes Assisted Living (about 92 residents)
What do we need to do to help?
You can make handmade Christmas cards, Color printed Christmas cards or even sign store bought Christmas cards! The important thing to remember is to do your very best! Remember, this is a gift for someone so we should make it as special as we can.
No matter what type of card you choose to make, please make sure you write a nice note inside. You should also sign your name-first name only please or you can write "From Wilkesboro Elementary" or "From the class of ___________."
Some ideas of what to write on the inside of the card are below:
Who can help?
ANYONE! We challenge each student to make 2 Christmas cards but would love it if families and friends would like to help as well! We would love this to be a community Kindness event.
Why are we doing this?
Many people who live in nursing homes have no visitors and do not get gifts for Christmas. This project allows all of the people who live in a nursing home in Wilkes county to get a small present and makes them feel special and loved. This project is a great way to show Glorious Kindness to others!
Where do we turn them in?
Homeroom teachers will collect Christmas cards from the class and deliver them to Mrs. Bauguss's class to sort, count and deliver!
When are cards being collected?
We will collect Christmas Cards until December 18th. 4th Grade will be taking a trip to the Westwood Hills Nursing home on December 16th to deliver some cards and then Mrs. Bauguss will deliver the rest of the cards Thursday December 19th.
