Lost and Found-COME AND VISIT
Please come to Tremont and take a look at our lost and found! There are so many coats, sweatshirts and other random things there!
Hats at Tremont
As a reminder kids are not permitted to wear hats during the school day. This includes Santa hats and holiday headgear of any kind. We have found that hats are quite a distraction and lead to discipline referrals because sometimes kids take hats from others' heads and/or flip hats off people's heads.
Of course winter hats used for warmth are permitted for recess and arrival/dismissal times! I'm sure there will be lots of them in the lost and found soon!
Service Learning at Tremont-POP TABS!
We are excited to announce a friendly competition between Tremont and Barrington during the month of November! We will be collecting pop tabs as a school to see how many pounds we can gather in total. This project will directly benefit the central Ohio Ronald McDonald House, helping families in need.
Please remember to send in only the pop tabs, not the cans. We will be collecting pop tabs from November 4 to December 6. Kindly send all pop tabs to your classroom teacher.
Thank you for your support in this initiative! Together, we can make a difference.
Counselor Corner
Dear Families:
This month we will be working on problem solving. Students will discuss and learn big and small problems and how they can problem solve. Kindergarten and first graders will listen to “Don’t Squeal Unless It Is A Big Deal”. We will also problem solve with Kelso Choices. Second grade students will play a problem solving game using a Kelso Choice wheel. Third through fifth grade will discuss problems and how to solve them playing a dice game.
We are wrapping up small groups. Look for Winter group opportunities from your classroom teacher updates.
Be well and enjoy your winter break.

New! Volunteers Needed for February's Not-So-Silent Social!
Volunteers Needed for this year's auction--formerly known as the Not-So-Silent Auction! The auction will happen in late February, and we are in need of volunteers for the following--please reach out to Meg Terwilliger if you're interested in getting involved! Heymegtwig@gmail.com
1.Classroom Art (1 person): Each classroom is responsible for creating a piece of artwork that is part of the silent auction. Typically, each class has a parent that works with the teacher to manage and complete the art project with the class. This role has been working with each classroom volunteer to make sure each class has a project, the final project is photographed for the auction site and coordinates the 'gallery' at Tremont where all classroom art is displayed the week of the auction. We have guidelines for what the art can/should be, and templates for outreach and management of this effort.
2. Donations (4 people): This year all packages will be pre-established based on most popular packages in past auctions. Each volunteer will be responsible for 6 packages from start to finish. Includes contacting the business/donor for each item in the package, arranging for pickup of items, combining into a package or creating certificates (we have a template), and dropping packages off at Tremont for winners to pick up on Friday of the Not-So-Silent Social. We have a spreadsheet to manage solicitation and donations based on who has donated in the past. Volunteers would be responsible for 'back filling' if a business does not wish to donate again. For example, if Goodie Shop does not want to donate to the birthday party package, the volunteer would need to find a different business to donate a 'sweet treat' for that package.
New! Register Soon For Winter After School Activities!
Registration is open from December 2nd-December 13th. All classes begin the week of January 13th. Please click HERE to view the flyers for details and class descriptions. Contact Leslie Addington (Leslie.addington@gmail.com) with any questions.

From the District
Dear families,
Upper Arlington Schools values feedback from all stakeholders as we strive to challenge and support every student, every step of the way. This winter, we want to hear from your students as we continually seek to improve their overall experience in our schools.
Between December 2 and December 13, 2024, all students in grades K-12 will have an opportunity to complete an online survey during the school day to provide us with information to better understand the culture and climate of our buildings. Our Culture and Climate Survey aligns with the priorities identified for our upcoming 2025-2030 strategic plan. Developed by UA Schools’ educators with feedback from students, teachers and caregivers, the strategic plan identifies Culture and Climate as a priority area. This survey is designed to collect building and district-level information. While the fall and spring Engaged Learner Survey provides us with individual student responses, the winter Culture and Climate survey results cannot be viewed individually; the responses are only available as collective feedback.
Grades K-2: Teachers and school staff members will support students as they take a brief online survey, using emoji images for their responses. The three-question survey will cover the following topics related to Culture and Climate: school climate, school safety and teacher-student relationships. You can preview the questions using the following link: Grades K-2 Survey.
Grades 3-5 and 6-12: Students will independently take a longer online survey, with age-appropriate questions based on grade band about these Culture and Climate topics: school climate, school safety and teacher-student relationships. The 6-12 survey also includes the topic of cultural awareness and action. (This topic is only available for grades 6-12.) You can preview the questions using the following links: Grades 3-5 Survey and Grades 6-12 Survey.
We are using the Panorama platform to administer our Culture and Climate Survey. This survey will provide information at the building and district levels to help the school counselors, teachers and administrators understand how to best support their school community.
We hope all students will participate so that we have a clear picture of our school-community needs. If, however, you would like to opt your student out of the winter survey administration, please complete and submit this form by November 28, 2024.
If you have any questions, please contact wellbeing@uaschools.org. Thank you for your continued support of our students and our schools.
Sincerely,
M. Denise Lutz, Ed.D.

Digital Wellness Activity for Families During Thanksgiving Day Break
As an extension of the October 2024 Digital Safety Week and Screenagers viewing, we wanted to provide families with some Digital Wellness tips and strategies to consider during the Thanksgiving break. These five days are an opportunity to exhibit a healthy balance with device use. Here is an exercise to try:
Commit to a plan around having no phones or devices out as family from out-of-town are visiting or if you are visiting others. Explain that it’s an opportunity to connect with family and anything online can wait.
Set an expectation for the entire family so parents/guardians can model a similar ability to know when it is appropriate to be on devices.
Find other times during the weekend as your family moves from one activity to another to preemptively define if this is a time the family has devices out.
By Sunday, discuss questions with your students related to this activity, such as:
Did you feel more present with your family?
What was the most challenging part of the day for you?
What was the first thing you did when you got your device out? Why is that specific thing important to you?
Can you help our family create a plan to make this a more frequent practice?
If you do this with your family and feel comfortable to share, please share an anonymous feedback about the process. The Excellence and Engagement Office is committed to supporting families with exercises like these to help create a healthy digital balance for our students.
