A Message From Mr. Lynch
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break this past weekend! We’ve had a fantastic week back at school, and the students are buzzing with excitement about the upcoming Santa Shop next week.
Whether your child participates in the Santa Shop or not, every student will receive a small surprise from our amazing PTA. We are incredibly thankful for the hard work and dedication of our PTA officers who make these special moments possible for our students.
Thank you for your continued support, and have a great weekend!
Counselors Corner
Hello Brimfield families!
I'm excited to share this newsletter with you, which will be focusing on growth mindset and overcoming challenges. Our goal is to empower students to develop a resilient and optimistic outlook, embracing difficulties/challenges as opportunities for growth.
What is a growth Mindset?
- A growth mindset has the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication, grit, and persistence. It is about welcoming the idea that we can learn and improve, even when we are faced with obstacles.
Tips for families:
1. Give positive praises for effort, not just talent/success. Example could be, instead of saying "you are so smart", say, "I can see you worked very hard on this!".
2. Emphasize progress, not perfection. Celebrate small victories and acknowledge progress, even if it is not perfect.
3. Model growth mindset yourselves. Share your own struggles/challenges and how you overcame them, demonstrating that it is okay to make mistakes. This is where GROWTH happens.
Tips for students:
1. Take risks and try new things. Do not be afraid to try something new, even if you feel you might not be good at it at first.
2. Ask for help when needed. Don't be afraid to ask for help from teachers, family, and friends. We all need help sometimes.
3.Celebrate your success. Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small they may seem.

PBIS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach designed to foster a positive school climate by encouraging appropriate behavior. It focuses on teaching and reinforcing clear behavioral expectations in a consistent and structured way. PBIS emphasizes prevention rather than punishment, using data to identify and support students who may need additional help. By recognizing and rewarding positive behavior, PBIS aims to improve student engagement, reduce disciplinary issues, and create a more inclusive, respectful learning environment where all students can thrive academically and socially.
At Brimfield Elementary, students help to identify positive expectations and receive incentives for appropriate behavior. Your child may be chosen to participate in the Principal’s Club, receive a red SOAR ticket, or earn a Principal’s Good News call. The staff at Brimfield works hard to use positive words with students. Instead of telling a child to “stop running” in the hallway, the direction might be to “move throughout the halls in a controlled and safe manner”. Thank you, in advance, for partnering with us and using positive statements with your child. We are very proud of our PBIS program and look forward to celebrating the great behavior of our young Falcons!
