Please help your child read the passages and books in their reading folders throughout the week at home. These folders should come back to school each day. Thank you for all of your support.

Thursday, October 10th: Report Card Pick up 4:30-6:00 pm

Please plan to attend our Report card pick-up and Open House event on Thursday night at Justiss. All families will need to sign for the first nine-week report card. If you cannot attend, please get in touch with me so we can set up a time to meet. Thank you!

Students will identify text features in informational texts.

Students will discuss story structure, summarization, and chronological order.

Throughout the week we will read many books. Here are some of the books we will read this week.

First graders need to know an assortment of sight words to help them read. By the end of the school year, our students should know the 1st 100 Fry sight words.

This week will focus on the words: some, come, done, none

Spelling words: long, wing, king, sang, hung, lung, bang song, thing

Students will focus on words with the spelling pattern digraph ng.

Students will read words with open and closed syllables.

Students will write a non-fiction text about animals.

Students will write complete sentences.

Students begin to learn place value through addition and subtraction equations.

Students will explore the weather and temperature in different areas.

Students will discuss patriotism.
