BOND CONSTRUCTION UPDATE π§
July 2024
π§ Important Construction / π Traffic Update
Good Day, Reynolds families!
We hope you are having a great summer break! We wanted to give you a quick construction update!
Construction Update
Our community overwhelmingly approved $2.7 billion for new construction, modernizations, technology, and a performing arts center in November 2024. In phase one of the modernization of Reynolds Middle School, six new classrooms are ready for school!
In addition to the construction in our building, a new Maintenance & Operations facility is being constructed on the east side of Reynolds.
π§ Important update about additional portables
In addition to new classrooms, we are undergoing a 3-year update! Everyone loves a good makeover! As part of this modernization, we are moving all social studies classes to temporary classrooms outside of the building. This area is partially fenced.
To ensure the safety and security of students during class changes, we are implementing the following:
Assistant Principal Alex Neece will meet with all teachers assigned to the temporary classrooms before school begins to reinforce our safety expectations.
At least one teacher will be at the main door during class transitions.
All other teachers will be stationed outside their doors during class transitions.
We will monitor and adjust as needed throughout the year.
πChanges to the traffic patternsπ
While we are all excited about the updates to our campus, we know that the traffic it will create is less exciting. Well, it could be exciting, but not in a great way!
What does this mean?
Increased wait time to drop off/pick up students.
Increased confusion about the traffic pattern.
Aggravation and agitation!
Changing traffic patterns
As part of the construction, our traffic patterns will be changing. Please study the map below.
Families will enter on the West side of campus from Coleman Street and exit on Eagle Lane for drop-off and pick-up.
Families CANNOT drop off or pick up on the South side of the building or at the MPF building.
Buses will enter and exit on the South side of the building on Church Street.
Our Prosper ISD Police Officers will be on traffic control in the morning and afternoons, and we will have extra staff outside to ensure that students are being dropped off and picked up safely.
Maybe it's time for carpool!
We know that the Reynolds community leans in to help one another. It may be time to talk with your friends and neighbors about consolidating drop off and pick up. It would be helpful for fewer cars dropping off more kids.
What we need from our families
Your patience! As exciting as these new additions will be, our campus will have ongoing changes. We ask for your flexibility and adaptability as we begin and continue the construction process. The outcome is going to be awesome!
Safety and security are at the front of our minds during this time. Please ask that your students obey all warning signs and construction barriers. These are there for their safety. In addition, there will be contract employees on our campus during this time. Contractors undergo the same background checks as our employees. We ask that students respect these employees and allow them to work without interruption.
We will continue to give you construction updates throughout the process. We are excited to share the progress over the next year! We may experience some temporary changes, but we will work to ensure that teaching and learning continue with the same expectation of excellence every day. We know that Eagle Nation will take these changes in stride and continue teaching and learning at high levels!
Whatβs next?
We know that our dedicated teachers, staff, and awesomely supportive families will make this an adventure and an opportunity to show how well we can overcome and adapt to the construction challenges. Reynolds Middle School will continue to be outstanding!
