Inside Centennial Schools
October 31, 2024
Connecting. Achieving. Preparing.
Spreading kindness
Students were spreading kindness before heading out for the fall break. The Student Leadership Council at Centennial Elementary led the "Kindness in Chalk" initiative and invited students to draw pictures and write messages of kindness and support for one another.
A shout out to Medtronic!
A special note of thanks to Medtronic for visiting the fifth-grade classrooms at Blue Heron Elementary and providing learning opportunities for students! We appreciate the partnerships with our community!
A great day for Kindergarten Preview Day
It was a great day to meet future kindergarten friends at Kindergarten Preview Day at all of our elementary schools on October 24. Students and their families enjoyed meeting the principal, touring the school, having a snack in the lunchroom, and playing on the playground. We can't wait to have you join the Centennial community!
Centennial Schools delivers more than just an education. With a focus on engaging learning, emotional support, and social development, we empower students to navigate their future with confidence. Every day is an opportunity to learn, grow and prepare for what’s next – and beyond.
New equipment arrives
New equipment arrived in the high school's Manufacturing Learning Lab thanks to industry partnerships with Twin City Fab Inc. and G & K Machining who donated used equipment. R & R Machinery Movers made it all happen--it takes a village! The used equipment will increase CNC machining capabilities, helping better prepare students for careers in manufacturing.
Together, we can do great things!
A shout out to our partners in the manufacturing industry who have made donations to support the expansion of the Manufacturing Pathway program.
The used equipment will increase CNC machining capabilities, helping better prepare students for careers in manufacturing.
The Manufacturing Pathway program includes career-readiness courses in General Metals, Metals Technology, Advanced Metal Technology, and Cougar Manufacturing.
Minnesota Goes to College Month
Centennial High School students celebrated "Minnesota Goes to College Month" in October and participated in a variety of activities to help guide their postsecondary planning. A favorite activity: Playing College Bingo with their peers in the Career Center. Around 150 juniors and AVID students participated in the National College Fair at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Activities Fair showcases opportunities for students to get involved
At an activities fair held during LEAP, students showcased clubs, activities, and student groups offered at Centennial High School outside the regular school day. Students connected with peers and encouraged others to get involved! Twenty-six clubs and activities are offered at the school as well as band, choir, and theater,

National School Principal Month
October is National School Principal Recognition Month. A special thank you to our principals for your leadership and the connections you make with your students and their families, staff, and the community. Thank you for making Centennial Schools a special place!
What do pirates and school lunch have in common?
Ahoy Matey! It was a pirate-themed celebration at our elementary schools to acknowledge National School Lunch Week. Preschool students joined in on the fun, wearing pirate hats while having a snack. The National School Lunch Program offers students fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and fat-free or low-fat milk with every school lunch. The program serves nearly 30 million children in the United States every school day.
Early Childhood recognized with Early Education Innovation Award
Centennial Early Childhood won the Minnesota Association of Family and Early Education Innovation Award for their partnerships with neighboring districts through the Early ID Grant Project. This award is presented to a project that addresses community needs through team work and cooperation.
The primary goal of this project is to increase collaboration with early intervention and the number of three-year-old children screened while decreasing the number of children entering kindergarten unscreened. The grant funds efforts to go out into the community to screen children and to increase awareness of early intervention with daycare providers and families.
We are honored to celebrate how grant funds from Anoka County have been used for the collaborative efforts between St. Francis Area Schools, Centennial Schools and Spring Lake Park School districts to meet the needs of families within our county and schools.
