IT'S A BIRD, A PLANE ... NO, IT'S ACADEMIC PINS!
Congratulations to all of the Golden Bears who earned an Academic Pin. Based on your Report Card (weighted) GPA, those students who earned a 3.0 of better will receive a 2025 BB Jersey pin on Wednesday in their 3rd Period. We also honor the 250 students who were able to complete the challenging task of improving their GPA by 0.5 or more since Progress Report.
In addition, on Wednesday all of those student were hit that 4.0 mark will receive an invitation to Thursday's Principal's Honor Roll.
We're dolling out the academic recognition this week. Congrats to the people!
MATCHMAKING - FIND A FRIEND
It's a tradition here at TV. Every February will distribute our matchmaking questionnaire with the purpose of giving you a change to be paired up with a fellow Golden Bear or 40. It's a fun activity that is even more fun when more students participate. All you have to do is click on the link, answer the 35 questions and you'll receive your results mid-February. You have until Tuesday, January 28 to complete the questionnaire.
You'll find questions like: "How messy is your bedroom? What would you do with $1 million? What's your ideal vacation?"

We've also got a number of tryouts and info meetings this week.
Boys Volleyball have tryouts on Tuesday, January 21 in the Mini-Gym.
Swim is having a Parent Info Meeting on Thursday (1/23) on the pool deck at 6PM.
Baseball's makeup tryouts are on February 6th and 7th.
Tryouts for Varsity Boys Golf will be on Wednesday January 22 at Temecula Creek Golf Club at 3PM. Golfers hoping to make the team can come to the course on Tuesday at 4pm to practice. If you have any questions contact Coach Duncan at bduncan@tvusd.us
If you're looking to attend any athletic events, look no further than GOFAN. All tickets are online, but if you're a students and you've got that GOLD CARD you've got FREE entrance to all home athletic events.

STUDENT SENATE (3RD PERIOD / JAN 29)
Our next monthly STUDENT SENATE meeting is next Wednesday (1/29) and we're looking to gather input from students about school spirit and spirt at athletic events. We love being Golden Bears and we're proud to be a part of the Golden Bear Family, but let's talk about ways to up the spirit on campus. You can sign-up to participate in the MPR right HERE.
GOLDEN BUZZER TALENT SHOW (1/31)
The TVHS Golden Buzzer Talent Show is on Friday, January 31 and it's going to be quite the show. It's FREE to attend and it begins at 6PM.

ACADEMIC FAIR & COURSE SELECTION
Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, you will begin choosing your classes for next year by the end of this month. It's always an exciting time, but you probably have a lot of quesitons about the options and courses to choose from. Get all the answers on Wednesday, January 29 during Lunch at the ACADEMIC FAIR in the Mini-Gym. Representatives from all the electives, AP and Dual Enrollment courses, the CTE pathways, and many of the amazing academic classes that you can be a part of will be present. Mark your calendars and get your questions ready.
AP INFO SESSIONS: SIGN-UP
Do you want to hear more about AP courses for next year? AP Teacher will be offering information sessions during ADVISEMENT over the next few weeks where students will be able to attend to hear more information about the specific course and ask any questions. Please complete the Google Form indicating which course sessions you would like to attend so that a 5-Star pass can be sent to you.
** Students, you MUST check in with your Advisement teacher and show them your pass prior to attending.
GOLDEN BEAR RECOGNITION
Congratulations to our Golden Bear staff of the week ...
MR. CAMPBELL, an energetic and passionate PE teacher and wrestling coach. "He takes his time to explain what we are doing every day to make sure everyone knows. He is really engaged in his job and is very nice to everyone." He is ENGAGED.
MRS. ALPERT, a cheerful and outgoing English teacher. "She always lights up my day and whenever people are in a funk she finds to help and help them out of it." She is SERVICE-MINDED.
GOLDEN STUDENT OF THE DAY
Today's GOLDEN STUDENT OF THE DAY is NATHAN MCCORT (c/o '27). "Nathan is the funniest guy I know, he can light up a whole room with his jokes. He’s a very talented singer and works so hard every day in his classes. He’s going to be an amazing painter some day and achieve great things. I am so thankful for all he does for his friends."

PERSONAL FINANCES WORKSHOP FRIDAY
Sign-up to attend the FINANICAL WORKSHOP this Friday during ADV. We've got tips for how to manage your personal finances in addtion to games, treat, and interactive activities. Register by Thursday during ADV go receive an invitation.
AP READINESS SESSIONS
The first in-person AP Readiness session is this Saturday (January 25). If they want to ride the bus, you must have a signed permission slip turned in to counseling by January 23. The forms are available in Building 4 now. The bus will depart at 7:30AM.

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
EMPTY BOWLS LOOKING FOR DONATIONS
On April 11, TV hosts our annual food drive in conjunction with Mission Hope, our local food pantry working to end hunger in our community. The Empty Bowls program involves our ceramics students, ASB, performers, and more as we invite people to enjoy a dinner served in a beautiful crafted ceramic bowl. The money raised from the event goes directly to Mission Hope.
What we're looking for at this time are donations - soup, bread, salad, and financial donations. If you know of a restaurant willing to help, please contact the Activities Director, Eric Burlingham, (eburlingham@tvusd.us).
CAMPUS CLEANUP / ADV / EVERY TUESDAY
Every Tuesday during ADV we're setting aside some time to beautify our campus and pick up trash. You and your friends can volunteer to help out. Each interested students should complete the form right HERE, by the end of the day on Monday. You'll receive an Intervention/Advisement pass on 5-Star. Show your teacher and make your way to the steps of the 600 Building to sign-in and grab your materials (gloves and trash bag). We don't miss a beat. Sign-up to help out today or get a jump start on the rest of January.
TVHS FASHION SHOW & CLOTHING DRIVE
ALL WEEK we're collecting clothing donations to both restock the BEAR NECESSITIES CLOTHING PANTRY and to serve as clothing items for our upcoming fashion show. All students are invited to be a part of this fun event. If you're interested in serving as a model or as a designer please complete the interest form right HERE.

OFF -CAMPUS BLOOD DRIVE (1/22)
On Wednesday, January 22, 2025 the San Diego Blood Bank is hosting a blood drive at the Temecula Public Library on Pauba. Time slots will be availabel from 12PM - 5PM. It's an early release day, making it possible for our 17-year olds to sign up for an appointment after school. This drive is also open to the public making it possible for friends and families within the community to participate.
**TVHS students will be eligible for the RED CORD if they donate at this off-campus drive.
LUNCHTIME ACTIVITIES
We've got lots of fun always happening during Lunch. On Wednesday you can check out some gear duiring lunch and put a game together with your friends. On Thursday, we celebrate National Compliment Day with lots of opportunities to give a compliment. On Friday it's make your own sunday - fun day.
CUBS ON CAMPUS MEETING (1/23)
We're bringing the future Golden Bears to campus in February for Cubs on Campus and we need your help. On Thursday, January 23, we're meeting in the MPR at Lunch to share info with all of our athletic, club, and activity reps to talk about what needs to happen before the 8th graders arrive. We'll also be looking for volunteers to show them around campus. We'll see you on Thursday, January 23.

Come join TVHS Bio sustainability club every 1st WEDNESDAY of the month in Room 711. Bio-Sustainability Club is a fun and engaging way to make a positive impact on the environment while learning about sustainable living. FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP (1/27)
Class of 2025 Seniors, completing the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) is a graduation requirement. If you would like assistance from a college financial aid professional, please attend the workshop on JANUARY 30 from 5:30 - 7PM at the District Offcie. Parents/guardians are invited as well.
