Annotated Bibliography
Instructions for Annotated Bibliography:
I. Purpose
To evaluate the credibility of your sources and their relevance to your thesis
II. Format
A. MLA margins, font, heading, and header
B. Each annotation will need a proper MLA Works Cited entry followed by a 2- paragraph analysis of the source. One per page. 1.
(1) 1st paragraph: In 3 – 4 sentences analyze the credibility of the source. Where did the source come from? Is it trustworthy? How do you know that? Is this a good source to use? Explain why or why not.
(2) 2nd paragraph: In 3 – 4 sentences summarize what this source says.
C. Put your sources in alphabetical order
D. Final Topic
Your final topic needs to be at the top of each paper with the citations and annotations below it. This should act as a visual reminder to keep your sources focused.
How should I organize my sources?
- Make a new Folder - name it TKAM
- In the folder, open a new Google doc and name it Sources (or something)
- Copy and Paste your 1) citations and 2) relevant information into the Google doc!
Database Source - Mackinvia.com
Video 2: https://youtu.be/Q2GMtIuaNzU
2) Which database am I supposed to use? Mackinvia
- login = your 6-digit student ID
- password = your 8-digit birthdate
Mrs. Vincent recommends two (you must be logged in to use these) :
Print Resources - Where do I find them?
- Keep organized on cart
- Don't forget to look in the index for what you want!
- Don't forget to cite your source - see below
2) Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) - it's books in a database!
- in Mackinvia
- search for your topic
- counts as your book print resource :)
How to Cite your Sources
1) For databases: click where it says "Cite" or "Citation" and choose MLA format - copy and paste the citation into your Works Cited page
2) For print resources: Use Easybib.com!
- easiest way: type in the book's ISBN (number above barcode), check information for correctness, and copy and past citation into your Works Cited page
- harder way: type in title (or all) information from front of book
3) Using GVRL
