Message from the Principal
Dear Hilhi Families,
I hope you are all staying safe and warm during this blast of winter! With today's ice, all Wednesday evening events are cancelled, including our Juntos program and financial aid night at Century High School. Both will be rescheduled once we are clear of this icy weather. My hope is that things melt quickly so we can return to school tomorrow.
We are down to the final weeks of semester one - the last day of the term in Thursday, February 1st. Students should be working hard these next two weeks to finalize projects, study for exams and ensure they have done their best for the first half of the year. After school tutoring available to all students each Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45-5:00 in the library and we'll host a school wide study session on Thursday, January 25th from 3:45-8:00pm, including pizza and prizes.
There is no school on Friday, February 2nd so that teachers can post grades. Monday, February 5 is a teacher prep day for second semester. Students return to school on Tuesday, February 6 to start the new semester. Please take a few minutes to log into ParentVue or StudentVue to make sure your child's second semester schedule is as expected. If you have a question about your schedule, please reach out to your counselor or complete this schedule change request form.
Once we have second semester launched, we'll begin looking at course selection for next year. Mark your calendars for our annual Academic Planning Night on Wednesday, February 28th from 6:00-8:00pm. Counselors and teachers will use this night to inform families about course selection and guidance for next year, including information on College and Career Pathways, Career and Technical Education and graduation and college entrance requirements. Just after this event students will be instructed on completing their course selection for next year, including selecting College and Careers Pathways for 10th graders.
The work our students do these next two weeks is vital to their grades and success for first semester. Thank you for all you to do keep them healthy, focused and on time for school. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need support for your child.
My Best,
Cary Meier
Principal

Seniors - 12th grade
SENIORS - FINANCIAL AID APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN
The Application for Financial Aid has had glitches in the first few weeks. This is common each year.
Do not panic if a glitch happens - come back to it later that day or a few days later, they constantly work to fix technology glitches.
The form should fairly easy to do, but if you need help come see us in the College and Career Center
If you and your family feel like you need support through the process - come to one of the evening Financial Aid Nights (1 each week in January at each of the high schools) - see information below for dates and times.
Here is a Google Slide Deck and a Google Doc with the latest helpful information
All students and their families considering education after high school (college, university, community college, trade schools) should fill out either the FAFSA or ORSAA as soon as possible.
Students and families can register for accounts before completing the application (FAFSA registration ORSAA Registration) It can take up to 3 days for the account to activate - so do it now!
Not sure which form to fill out for your situation? - check here
HSD Financial Aid Nights
The Hillsboro School District is offering a Financial Aid Night each week in January. These sessions are drop in and are open to any HSD Students and their families. Help is available in Spanish at all sessions.
It is suggested that students and parents have attained a FSA ID (login credentials) before attending a session (because of the 1-3 day wait time on account creation being verified).
If an FSA ID is not created before attending an event, help can be provided in creation, but the application may not be able to be completed that night.
College Applications
Students applying to four year schools, be aware of application deadlines. Most schools have a deadline in January or early February. Make sure you have applied to all of your desired schools by the appropriate deadline.
Need help with applications - come to College and Career Center
