Lake Bluff Elementary School Family Newsletter
Hello Lake Bluff Families,
Brrrrr- winter was in all it's glory this week. In typical Wisconsin fashion, we are expecting a drastic warm-up. With all these weather fluctuations, please make sure you check the weather daily so students are prepared for whatever the day may bring.
If you haven't signed up for a student-lead conference yet, please make sure you click on the links below to do that. Conferences are March 13 & 14 (4K only is also March 12).
Thanks a LATTE PTO and families for the Valentine's gift. You MOCHA us so happy and certainly caused us to have a BREW-tiful day!
Finally, I wanted to remind you there is no school on Friday, February 28. It is a records and planning day for teachers.
Have a safe and nice weekend!
Kind Regards,
Johanna French, Principal
A Message from Dr. Burgos, Superintendent
Dear Lake Bluff Families and Staff,
I want to take a moment to update you on the principal hiring process. Through the volume of feedback gathered from the family and staff surveys, a predominant desire for leadership stability and continuity emerged, along with strong endorsements for our current Interim Principal, Ms. Johanna French. Given the clear sense of trust in her leadership that was expressed, I have decided to appoint Ms. French as Principal of Lake Bluff Elementary School.
I believe this is the best path forward to meet the needs of the Lake Bluff school community at this time. Survey respondents shared that strengthening schoolwide expectations, meeting student academic and social emotional needs, and teacher retention are key priorities, and we are committed to addressing these areas with a thoughtful and collaborative approach.
To ensure that we move forward together, the District will host a forum in which Ms. French will share her vision and plans to support these priorities. This will also be an opportunity for families and staff to provide input and ask questions as we continue to strengthen our school. More details about this event will be shared soon.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in making Lake Bluff the best learning environment for our students. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Kind regards,
Laurie Burgos, Ph.D.

Friends of the Shorewood Public Library: Yard Sign Campaign
The Friends of the Shorewood Public Library are planning to fill the village with yard signs in support of the library, beginning on April 6 when National Library Week kicks off.
This year’s yard sign campaign will be bigger than ever. And signs with a new slogan will replace the “I Love the Shorewood Library” signs that have been used in the past.
Does a member of your household have an idea for a great new slogan you’d like to share? A contest to choose a new yard sign slogan is being hosted by the Friends. Entries can be submitted using this Library Yard Sign Campaign link. The contest closes on Feb. 28 and a winner will be announced in March. Students are encouraged to enter.
