Carver's Weekly Update
Monday, September 9, 2024
Carver Parents/Guardians,
Our Grandparent's Breakfast will take place this week. Reservation forms have already been sent home. The schedule for this breakfast is in the Dates to Remember. Grandparents will be provided with the same breakfast options that the students will receive on the dates listed below.
***Upcoming Book Fair***
Our school's book fair will begin on Monday, September 9. Students are not required to attend the book fair. An opt-out form was sent home on Tuesday, September 3. If you do not wish for your child to attend or participate in the book fair, please sign and return this form.
Attention Parents of Students who have opted-out....
Please inform the grandparents of the children who have opted-out to avoid taking these students to the book fair during the grandparent's breakfast.
***AR Reader/Library Books***
I want to encourage all parents to help students with reading an AR book each evening. Students are expected to read for 20 minutes or 20 pages per night. Students are also reading in the mornings prior to being picked up from the cafeteria or hall by their teachers. Students who do not have library books will miss part of their recess to make up for the missed reading. Parents are asked to sign their children's reading logs each night. Incentives have been established for students who meet their AR goals. AR goals are individualized and are based on what the student is capable of achieving. Reading enhances a child's vocabulary, improves comprehension, and it helps to increase a child's overall knowledge of various subjects/content.
Information about our new PTO Booster fundraiser is below. All funds raised will support our students and school.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Enjoy our long weekend, and have a great week!

The Carver Bear Fun Run | Save the Dates!
We're excited to introduce this year's main fundraiser, the Carver Bear Fun Run. Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 for Bear Bucks Celebrations, supplies and resources for students and teachers, and supporting events throughout the year to help celebrate the Carver Community to benefit ALL students at Carver Elementary.
We’re excited for this fundraising experience because it offers 3 important things to our school community:
1️⃣ User-friendly fundraising platform
2️⃣ Character enrichment program
3️⃣ Fitness-focused event that includes ALL of our students
As a family, you will work together asking friends and family to donate on your student’s Donation Page at MyBooster.com. The best part is, you can still support our school just by SHARING about the fundraiser!
Students will also experience an amazing character enrichment program called “Castle Quest”, teaching students about how to be brave and live with character.

A Snapshot of STEAM Learning
Mrs. Abram's Third Grade Students
Force and Motion study- Students made marshmallow catapults in small groups to investigate balanced and unbalanced forces. Two groups faced off for the furthest marshmallow flown, over 3 feet!
Mrs. Venable's Class
Students practiced their knowledge of arrays and groups during STEAM day in Mrs. Venable's class. Students built their own arrays by rolling dice and also wrote repeated addition problems for arrays found around the room.
Fourth Grade REACH Students
Fourth grade REACH students competed in a Factor Race. It is a fast pace activity that will help students build speed and accuracy with finding factors of increasingly difficult numbers.
Mrs. Davis' Students
Students integrated Art into their Social Studies lesson! Students have been learning all about maps, continents, and oceans. Students created their own maps by painting the ocean and labeling each ocean and continent.
Kindergarten's Math Game Day
The students practiced comparing numbers by identifying which number was greater than, less than, or equal to as they rolled dice!
