Kids Vote!

A Message from Principal Diaz
Dear Franklin Academy Families,
I am excited to announce that our Student Council will be hosting a Mock Election on November 4! This event is designed to offer students a hands-on experience with the voting process, highlighting the importance of civic engagement and active participation in our democracy. Our goal is to provide a fun and educational activity that teaches students the value of voting without focusing on any specific political viewpoints.
Event Details:
- Grades K-2: Students in primary grades will watch a short, engaging video that introduces the concept of voting and explains how it’s a way to make group decisions, similar to choosing an activity as a family or deciding what to eat for dinner. Through this familiar example, students will learn how voting allows everyone’s voice to be heard. They’ll then receive a paper ballot to vote in a classroom activity and get an "I Voted" sticker to complete the experience.
- Grades 3-8: For our intermediate and middle grades students, teachers will share a video that explores voting in more depth, discussing how it empowers individuals to impact their communities. Students will learn how the process works in the digital age, using their unique “Voter Registration Card” to cast their vote electronically in the cafeteria on November 4, simulating the real-life process. This combination of hands-on activity and digital experience will give students a practical sense of modern voting.
We want to assure you that this activity is entirely neutral and focused solely on the voting process. Teachers and staff will refrain from sharing personal opinions or political perspectives. Our primary goal is to create a respectful environment that helps students understand the significance of their voices in a democratic system.
Below, you’ll find links to the specific videos your child will watch, allowing you to explore these resources at home if you’d like.
Thank you for supporting this opportunity for our students to engage with civic responsibility in a positive, age-appropriate way. We look forward to celebrating democracy together!
Warm regards,
Elena Diaz, M.Ed.
