Spring Has Sprung!
Today is the last day of 3rd quarter, and April brings not only spring break (and hopefully some sunshine next week!), but also the final push of the school year. We are seeing improved attendance and appreciate the continued efforts of families to encourage regular attendance and to let us know when their student is absent.
Thanks to a partnership with the Arbor Health Hospital Foundation and the Randle Fire Department, all of our juniors and seniors will be trained in First Aid/CPR after break. Fire department staff will be on site to lead the training; not only does this make for a healthier, safer community, but having a valid First Aid/CPR card is a great thing for our students to put on a resume or application. If you have a junior or a senior, please encourage them to be here on their assigned training day (April 16 or 17) to participate in this training.
Spring sports are well underway, and even though we've had some schedule changes due to weather, we look forward to a month full of baseball, fastpitch and track in what we expect to be more favorable weather. There is no cost to attend spring sports events; please join us to cheer on our MWP athletes! You can always find the most current schedules here.
Shortly after we come back from Spring Break, we will start the forecasting process, where students learn about class offerings for next year and complete their class request forms. Teachers are planning a "Curriculum Fair" to highlight our electives and new course offerings, and then students will receive information about course planning and earning credits toward graduation. Finally, they will have course request forms to bring home for discussion with families before turning them in to the office. Watch for those forms to come home around the last week of April.
Seniors and senior families...keep an eye on the senior calendar for changes this spring. Things tend to shift around as things are finalized and our glorious PNW weather impacts sports seasons.

Senior Project has changed! This important part of the senior year will still include components to get students ready for life after high school (resume, interview skills, a presentation). Watch for details later this month about the final step in this process; Mrs Foley is coordinating interviews with staff from community business partners.
Mrs Foley is a fabulous resource for all things for life after high school. Not sure what your plan is? She can help you discover interests and how those tie into post-secondary plans and careers. Stop by the Career Center for help with applications, resumes, scholarships and more!
