.
Dear Parents,
As partners in your child’s education, we want to take a moment to thank you for all the support you provide at home. As the school year progresses, we understand that some students may need extra encouragement to stay motivated and on track. Here are a few ways you can help support your child’s learning journey:
Create a Consistent Routine: Establish a regular time and quiet space for homework and study. A calm, distraction-free environment will help them focus better.
Stay Involved: Check in with your child about their school day, assignments, and upcoming projects. Your interest in their schoolwork shows them that education is a priority.
Encourage a Growth Mindset: Remind your child that learning is a process, and it’s okay to make mistakes as long as they keep trying. Help them see challenges as opportunities to grow.
Communicate with Teachers: If your child is struggling or excelling in certain areas, don’t hesitate to reach out to their teachers. We’re here to work together to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Celebrate Progress: Acknowledge your child’s effort, not just the results. Celebrating small achievements will build their confidence and motivation.
By working together, we can help your child succeed academically and build a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. Thank you for your continued support.
Ms. Batista

Book-O-Ween
We are excited to announce an upcoming event at school called "Book-O-Ween," taking place on October 31st! On this fun-filled day we invite students to dress up as their favorite literary characters or notable figures from non-fiction texts. Students must have the physical book, article or print out to complete their look. Be sure to pack a change of clothes (if necessary) for students to change after the event. Please avoid full costumes, masks, weapons or violent imagery.
The day will kick off with a parade from 9:30 to 10:00 AM, where students will march around the outside school in their creative outfits. Parents are cordially invited to attend and cheer on our young readers!
After the parade, students will return to their classrooms for a special "Book Talk ‘n Treat" from 10:00 to 10:30 AM. During this time, they will share the books that inspired their creative outfits while enjoying a small morning treat. While parents won’t be able to attend the Book Talk ‘n Treat, teachers will be reaching out soon with requests for treats to make this gathering special.
Additionally, a small alternate activity will be available in the media center, where students can share their favorite stories and enjoy a treat.
We look forward to celebrating our love for literature with your children on Book-O-Ween!🙂
2024-2025 Student Handbook
In order to ensure a safe, productive, and positive learning environment, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) publishes these handbooks to help students, parents/guardians, and staff understand the Montgomery County Board of Education's core values and commitments; students' rights; school rules; expectations for student conduct; and the possible consequences for violating the rules. If you have questions, please speak to the administration at your school. If you have comments about any of these publications, please send them in writing to the MCPS Department of Communications at pio@mcpsmd.org.
Mental Health Awareness Week
Mental health awareness for elementary school students is essential for fostering emotional well-being and resilience at a young age. By teaching kids to recognize and talk about their feelings, schools can create a supportive environment where students learn to express emotions in healthy ways. Early mental health education helps children understand the importance of self-care, empathy, and seeking help when needed. Promoting open discussions about emotions, stress, and coping strategies equips students with lifelong skills to manage challenges, reduce stigma, and build stronger, healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Help Promote the Read-A-Thon!
The Read-A-Thon is coming up in November and we need help with posters! The PTA is hosting a poster-making contest for all students that would like to participate. Posters should in some way celebrate and promote reading. Submission of posters are due by Friday, November 1st to the student's teacher. Two posters (one from Kindergarten - 2nd and another from 3rd-5th grades) will be chosen to be used on social media and flyers to help promote the Read-A-Thon. All other submissions will be posted around the school once the judging has been completed. Please see the attached flyers for more detailed information or you can email fundraising@rves.pta.org for more information.
