School Talk

Class of 2024
Earlier this month, the District celebrated more than 1,100 graduates from the Area Learning Center, Irondale High School, Mounds View High School and our adult education programs. See photos below.
Juneteenth Holiday
Mounds View Public Schools will be closed in observance of the Juneteenth holiday on Wednesday, June 19. Please do not visit District buildings on June 19, as they will not be open.
Juneteenth recognizes the historical pronouncement of the abolition of slavery on June 19, 1865, when the Emancipation Proclamation was said to have been first publicly read in Texas by Union soldiers. You can read more about the history of Juneteenth here.
State track champion
Irondale High School senior Juriad Hughes, Jr. capped off his impressive high school career by taking first place in the Class 3A 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash and the long jump -- where he currently holds the state record -- at the state track and field meet. Juriad will continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Arkansas next year.
Mustangs baseball headed to state finals
The Mounds View High School baseball team is headed to the final state tournament game after beating top-seeded Wayzata 5-4 in the semifinals on Friday, June 14. The team will take on East Ridge for the state title on Friday, June 21, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on the MSHSL website.
Pitcher Tyler Guerin (senior) was named the Star Tribune's Metro Baseball Player of the Year.
Free summer meals for students
Thanks to a federal program, free lunch meals for all students 18 years and under will be available July 8 through August 1, Mondays through Thursdays, at the following locations. Meals need to be consumed on-site.
Edgewood Middle School, 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Pinewood Elementary School, 12:45 -1:15 p.m.
Pike Lake Education Center, 12-12:30 p.m.
