New Family Orientation - Thursday, August 8th
We welcome all of our incoming families to Citizens of the World Charter School - Kansas City (CWCKC)! We are so glad that you and your student(s) will be joining us this fall, and we know that you probably have some questions as you prepare for your first day of school on August 14th.
Please join us for a New Family Orientation on Thursday, August 8th from 6-7 pm. Following a presentation from Dr. Miles (Executive Director) and Mr. Butler (Principal), pizza will be served, and there will be time for questions, available assistance in setting up your Parent Portal, and more.
Students are welcome to attend with caregivers but are not required to do so. Parking is available in the CWCKC parking lot and on surrounding streets. Please enter and exit through the back door (near the parking lot) to avoid work being done on the first floor during this time.
In the meantime, please explore our Family Dashboard for info about uniforms, school hours, meals, etc. or call the front desk at (816)499-8000 with any questions!
Tendremos un intérprete de español disponible para el día de orientación para familias nuevas y el día para conocer al maestro. Usted puede enviar un mensaje a Ivette De La Paz al número 816.804.2529 si tiene alguna pregunta en algún momento.

Camp Fire After-School Program
If you are in need of extended care but have not yet registered for after-school care with Camp Fire, please do so as soon as possible!
Camp Fire is available to registered Citizens students every day until 6 pm, even on Wednesday early release days! Due to an incredible grant they received last year, Camp Fire is available at no cost to our families. However, families need to commit to 90% student attendance in order to participate due to this funding, meaning that students should generally stay until 5:30-5:45 pm.
Please note that CampFire is currently maintaining a waitlist for their after-school program at Citizens, but they are actively hiring more teachers and hope to accommodate all families. If you are in need of after-school care next year, please register as soon as possible so that Camp Fire can staff their program as accurately as possible.
Similarly, if you registered previously and have had a change in plans, please reach out to Camp Fire to notify them that you no longer wish for your child to be registered.
Click here to register your child(ren). If you have any questions, please reach out directly to Camp Fire at 660-539-7100 or email them at megan.mcmurray@campfireheartland.org.
After-School Clubs Proposal
Our clubs are taught by school staff, caregivers, and community members who are passionate about a skill or hobby that they want to share with our students. Some examples of popular clubs from previous years are cake decorating, chess, cooking club, yoga, Dungeons & Dragons, crafting, soccer, and Spanish! Club sponsors are paid $600 at the end of the semester for attending a sponsor orientation and then teaching ten weeks of clubs. If you would like to be a club sponsor, please fill out this club proposal form by Monday, August 12th.
Early Release Wednesdays Begin August 21st
As a reminder, this year we will implement Early Release Wednesdays. Dismissal will take place at 1:50 pm every Wednesday beginning Wednesday, August 21st. Childcare will be available until 3:30 for those students not enrolled in the after-school program if their caregivers are not able to pick up at 1:50 pm.
Camp Fire students will attend Camp Fire programming beginning at 1:50 pm on Early Release Wednesdays and may be picked up as late as 6 pm, as on other days.
