💭 Superintendent's Message
Dear Northfield School District Families:
I hope you all enjoyed spring break!
The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) released the four-year graduation rates for the Class of 2023 last week . While the state’s graduation rate declined slightly (from 83.6% in 2022 to 83.3% in 2023), Northfield High School improved by one percent from 95.9% in 2022 to 96.9% in 2023.
Northfield High School’s four year graduation rate has been at or above 95.9% every year since 2017. You can learn more at the Minnesota Department of Education website.
It is critical to note that MDE releases the four-year graduation rate but also shares five, six, and seven-year rates. For example, when we review the “five year” graduation rate, the data shows that 98.6% of students in the Class of 2022 have now graduated, up from 95.9% from their four-year rate. While we strive to have every student graduate high school in four years, some students need more time, and their accomplishments should also be celebrated.
A consistently high graduation rate is a testament to students and their resilience, outstanding teachers and support staff who work hard to help students learn and grow, family members dedicated to their children’s well-being, and a community that values education.
I am so grateful to live, work, and lead in a community that is focused on doing good things for kids. Thank you for your part in that endeavor!
Sincerely,
Matt

The site includes information about the decision process to bring the bond referendum to the voters, the “why” behind the ballot questions, tax impact information, tours and educational events, and more. Additional information will be added to the website as we progress toward November.
