Magness Creek Elementary
Week of September 16, 2024
We are gearing up for our first annual PTO Fall Carnival set for this Thursday from 5:00-7:00. No, we do not have whip cream, but there will be some opportunities to throw a ball and dunk some special Magness Creek staff that night! Come enjoy some family time with us here at the Creek!
Our kindergarten, first, and second grades are taking a state mandated reading and math screener this week to measure their level of proficiency with grade level content. The results of this assessment will be shared with you at Parent-Teacher Conferences in October.
Our students in K-4th grades are up and running on Lexia. Lexia is computer program that follows an adaptive blended learning model that offers explicit, systematic, and personalized reading instruction. It reduces the risk of students not meeting grade level standards and can also provide accelerated instruction for on level students as well. The office rewards students for each level they pass in Lexia, and we challenge our students in all grades to meet their goals for units completed and time on task each week.
We are finalizing the optional class t-shirts this week, and they should be ready to go home with students that paid for one very soon. Thank you for patience with this!
Please let us know if you need anything!

Not only are we going to have such an amazing petting zoo, but ONE free entry pass was sent home with our students last week.
Please sign up to help! The PTO is excited to host our very first Fall Festival, and we need your support to make it a success! Both the kids and staff are looking forward to this fun new event, and with your help, we can make it truly memorable. Follow the Sign-Up Genius link below to sign up to volunteer.
If you can assist, please arrive at your booth a few minutes early to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated!
Literati Book Fair
In books, anything is possible! And book fair gift cards make discovery all the more rewarding. Encourage your student to find their next favorite read by giving them their own digital gift
card at fairs.literati.com. These also make great teacher gifts! Our book fair opens this Friday, September 20th!

In order to volunteer at Magness Creek, you will need to complete a background check every year and have Hallway Hero training once in your lifetime. Please call the office at (501)743-3565 or email your Hallway Hero interest to amy.morrow@cps.k12.ar.us or michelle.atherton@cps.k12.ar.us.
