Cedar Hill Longhorn Legacy Athletic Hall of Honor 2024 Inductees
The Cedar Hill Longhorn Legacy Athletic Hall of Honor presented a Legacy Award and inducted four new members and one team on Saturday afternoon at the Cedar Hill High School Performing Arts Center.
The 2024 inductees were:
multiple sport stars John Roy Reid (Class of 1965), Billy Barrett (Class of 1970), Tracy Todd (Class of 1988), cross country runner Shelly Bateman (Class of 1993), the 2004 Boys Basketball Team that finished second at State and former coach/administrator Mike Hogan (Legacy Award).
Reid, a Cedar Hill business owner, earned 16 varsity letters between 1961 and 1965. A three-time all-district selection, Reid was the football captain as a junior and senior. He earned all-district honors twice in basketball, serving as the team captain as a senior. In track, Reid qualified for Regionals four teams. He was a four-year member of the baseball team.
Barrett earned 11 varsity letters. He was a football captain as a junior and senior and basketball captain as a senior. He earned all-district honors twice in both basketball and football. Barrett was President of the Student Council and was involved in multiple extracurricular activities.
Todd earned 16 varsity letters. She led the cross country team to the district championship and a spot in regionals. Todd did that while earning first team all-district volleyball honors. In basketball, she also earned all-district honors. Todd was a team captain for all four sports, earning the Army/Navy Scholarship, the Athletic Heart Award and Most Valuable Athlete along the way.
Bateman qualified for State Cross Country three times, earning the Most Valuable Cross Country Runner Award and the Athletic Booster Club Scholarship.
The 2004 Boys Basketball Team, coached by the late, great David Milson, was the first CHHS Boys Basketball Team to advance to the State Finals. They lost to Houston Milby, 72-67, in the State Championship Game.
Hogan was the Athletic Director (1997-2001) and Assistant Principal (1991-1996) who coached basketball and golf and assisted in football.

Cedar Hill Softball Defeats Skyline, DeSoto
The Cedar Hill High School Softball Team (9-22, 4-8) defeated Dallas Skyline (12-2) and DeSoto (15-5) on consecutive nights, sweeping the season series against both teams.
The Lady Longhorns' game against Skyline was delayed from Tuesday to Thursday due to weather.
Cedar Hill will play its final home game of the season at 7 p.m. Tuesday against District 6A-11 leader, Mansfield Legacy (22-7-2).

Cedar Hill Baseball Wins At DeSoto
The Cedar Hill High School Baseball Team defeated DeSoto, 11-4, last Friday at DHS to split the season series against the Eagles.
The Longhorns (12-10-1, 3-7) enter the final two weeks of the regular season with an overall winning record. They'll visit Mansfield Legacy (15-10-2), the second place team in District 6A-11, on Tuesday, and host the Broncos on Friday.

Six Individuals. One Relay Team Advance to UIL Track Regionals
Cedar Hill dominated the 300 Meter Hurdles at the UIL Area Meet last Friday in Waco with Kaden Carter (Boys) and Krystan Bright (Girls) both winning the gold medal.
Carter and Bright advanced to the Regional Meet, this weekend in Waco, in both the 300 Meter and the 100 Meter Hurdles (Bright) and 110 Meter High Hurdles (Carter).

Nine Cedar Hill Boys Soccer Players Earn All-District Honors
Cedar Hill High School Boys Soccer players Daniel Fuentes, Geremy Purvis and Ryan Stowe earned First Team All-District 6A-11 Honors this season.
The Longhorns tied Dallas Skyline, a team that reached the third round of the playoffs, and they defeated a Waxahachie team that reached the postseason. It was an especially strong season for the district with Duncanville advancing to the State Semifinals.
The quartet of Manuel Barraza, Andres Escarzaga, Leonardo Ortega and Steve Salgado were named Second Team All-District, while Gideon Drumm and Eduardo Jaime garnered Honorable Mention accolades.
