May Blossoms of Gratitude: Celebrating Appreciation
Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week was a chance to express gratitude for their tireless dedication, unwavering support, and profound impact of our Phoenix teachers' impact on student growth and learning. From their guidance in the classroom to their encouragement beyond the content, teachers inspire us to reach new heights and instilled in us a lifelong love of learning.
National Nurses Week
During National Nurses Week, we honor the unwavering dedication and compassion of nurses of The Phoenix Center. These healthcare heroes embody the true essence of care, providing comfort and healing to our students. Their selflessness, expertise, and tireless commitment shine brightly, inspiring us all. We express our deepest gratitude to these remarkable individuals, whose invaluable contributions make a profound difference in the lives they touch every day.
National Receptionists Day
On this special occasion of Receptionists Day, we extend our sincerest appreciation to Emilee, the dedicated receptionist at The Phoenix. Emilee's unwavering commitment to her role embodies the essence of professionalism and warmth that defines our institution. With her welcoming smile and efficient assistance, Emilee ensures that every visitor to Phoenix feels valued and attended to and heard.
National Tie Dye Day
National Tie Dye Day falls on April 30th each year. It's a day dedicated to celebrating creativity, self-expression, and the vibrant art of tie-dyeing. At The Phoenix, students embraced this spirit by crafting tie-dye t-shirts and butterflies adorned with a spectrum of vibrant colors.
Wayne Valley Garden Club
In May, our garden inventory flourished with the assistance of our peer mentors from Wayne Valley High School. Together, we expanded our collection to include a variety of herbs, vegetables, and plants. Beyond caring for these plants, our students utilize them as a vehicle for sensory exploration, deepening their connection to nature while cultivating their senses.
Every Day Is Earth Day
As April neared its end, students united to honor Earth, participating in a range of activities designed to amplify awareness of environmental conservation and educate about actionable steps to safeguard our planet for generations to come. Among these activities were hands-on experiences like garbage sorting, engaging oil spill experiments, and absorbing facts about our environment, fostering a deeper connection to our natural world.
Mastering the Big Six: Advancing Fine Motor Skills for Learning Success
Students persist in honing their fine motor skills, recognizing their pivotal role in accessing their learning environment. This ongoing effort focuses on refining essential skills such as pointing, reaching, and releasing, empowering students to interact with their surroundings more effectively and enhancing their educational experiences.
Collaboration Is Key
What distinguishes our program is the exceptional collaboration between NRESC and Phoenix staff, committed to providing high-quality programming that prioritizes the education of our students.
Mondays Are For Music
Students dive into the world of music on Mondays, exploring rhythm and melody through the creation of their own instruments using everyday household items.
Nursing Home Week
This year's Nursing Home Week featured a fun Nickelodeon theme. Residents and staff embraced the playful spirit with a variety of themed activities and events every day. Our session activities integrated these daily themes into our learning experiences.
