No Foolin'! It's Great To be A Wildcat!
From The Principal's Desk
March has been an exciting month on the Wildcat campus. We've been busy with many fun activities. We started the month with Read Across America Week and students campuswide read an impressive 3.5 MILLION words in one week during our special weeklong reading challenge with Mrs. Malone's class winning the challenge. Our students represented us well at the countywide spelling bee with several students placing and Caelynn Saltsgaver winning 1st place in the 7th/8th grade division. The 8th graders have been busy with a trip to Lassen Community College and the Courthouse, and our 4th graders had a special visit on campus field trip where they learned about local Lassen County history from some special on campus guests.
We held our first annual Miniature Art Show, and it was a huge success! We had over 140 student entries and I would like to thank Mrs. Malone and Mrs. Branch for coordinating it. We are getting close to the end of the year and students are well on their way to reaching our goal of reading 90 million words. As of March 31st, students have read 63 million words. Great job wildcats, keep it up!

Happy Spring!
The 4th graders enjoyed an 'on-campus field trip' brought to us by the Native Daughters of the Golden West and Lassen County Cattlewomen. With the NDGW, the students were taught how to make paper and draw quail. Students also played Lassen County history bingo games. The LCCW's activities included teaching students about California's agriculture, crops and beef by-products.
The 4th grade students would like to thank NDGW and LCCW for bringing this to Janesville School!
