Happenings at the Hive
October 25, 2024
Dear Solon Stinger Families,
We are thrilled to bring you the latest updates from Solon Robinson Elementary School! This week marks a momentous occasion for our school community: the grand opening of our brand-new, inclusive playground and outdoor space! After the long awaited construction, we are excited to announce that the updated playground officially opened its gates on Monday.
To kick off this exciting new chapter, our fifth graders were given a special surprise—they had the exclusive opportunity to be the first ones to enjoy the playground first thing in the morning! Throughout the day, all students experienced the joy and excitement of playing on the new equipment, and it’s safe to say that the enthusiasm has been evident. The smiles and laughter echoing from the playground truly highlight how much our students love this new space.
This playground represents not only a place for fun and physical activity but also a commitment to providing our students with a safe and engaging environment to learn and grow. We look forward to seeing our Stingers create wonderful memories on the playground for years to come!
Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to a fantastic fall filled with fun and learning!
Yours in learning,
The Solon Robinson Elementary Team

What's Happening in Second Grade?
Mrs. Corsey's Class
Students in Mrs. Corsey's class carried out a science investigation to see which surface soaks up water the fastest. First, they made a prediction of which surface would soak up water the quickest: grass, cement or soil. Then, they made observations and collected data. Finally, students reviewed their observation notes and decided if their observation supported their predictions. In conclusion, softer surfaces soak up water faster than harder surfaces.
Mrs. Fricke's Class
In Mrs. Fricke's class, the students worked together to plan, write, and edit a fictional narrative based on a story they read in their Bedtime Tales reader from CKLA Skills class. Then, they each worked independently to create spooky fictional narratives about Wanda Witch and Frankenstein. The kids used their narratives to decorate their lockers for Halloween! Way to go, Mrs. Fricke's Class!
Ms. Leslie's Class
Miss Leslie’s class has been working on Healthy Habits posters to inspire others to make smart, safe choices. They worked together to design and decorate posters for brushing your teeth, wearing sunscreen, getting enough sleep, and washing your hands. You can count on them to be Health Heroes!
Mrs. Rice's Class
Stinger Ticket Winners!
Congratulations
The students pictured below are proud recipients of Stinger Tickets, awarded for their exceptional behavior and acts of kindness in the cafeteria. These students have gone above and beyond to create a positive and respectful environment, setting a great example for their peers. Let's celebrate their efforts and continue to spread kindness and good manners throughout our school community!
CPCSC Safety Night
The 3rd week of October is National School Safety Week.
CPCSC is hosting a presentation about school safety for parents and caregivers later this month. This 90-minute session will cover the district's steps to prevent and respond to safety issues, and how parents can help support our schools to be safe environments for students.
Students in grades 6+ are welcome to attend with their parents, but we ask that you consider whether the content and length of the presentation would be best for your elementary children.
- Wednesday, October 30th from 6-7:30 pm at Col. Wheeler Middle School
To help our team prepare for this event, please sign up to attend the presentation.
