The Messenger
A Publication of St. Gabriel the Archangel School 5/19/2025
Dear Fabulous Families -
Thank you for your patience as I am figuring out my email hacking situation. We are playing catch up with the newsletter that would have gone out last Wednesday, so I am sending this out tonight. We will still have a newsletter on Wednesday of this week. Stay tuned for next year's theme and meet the staff members whom we have hired thus far. (We are still interviewing for 4th and 6th Grade.)
I have also been out of town due to a medical issue with my dad and just got home tonight, so I appreciate Ms. Schmitt, Fr. Molini, and Fr. Lawson navigating dismissal last Friday during the the tornado warning. If you or anyone you know needs assistance due to the tornado, Catholic Charities can be contacted here.
Please keep everyone affected in your prayers.
Graduation - Please keep our 8th Graders in your prayers as they look forward to Graduation tomorrow night. We wish them every success and God's blessings as they move onto high school!
Last Day of School - Friday is a noon dismissal day. We will have Mass at 11:15 in the church. Please feel free to join us for Mass and the end of year moving up blessing. Students will be dismissed after Mass to parents who are in attendance or to the parking lot if no parent is present in the church. Students are welcome to have a dress down day on Friday following guidance in the handbook and that is Mass appropriate. Vacation wear is always a good choice!
Lunch Menu Survey - We have extended the deadline to this Friday for the lunch menu survey. Students are welcome to voice their favorites as menus are designed for next year!
Coming home in the Wednesday yellow envelope:
Reminder: Submissions for the newsletter should be sent to Mrs. McEnery and Ms. Schmitt by noon on Monday. Graphics should be a jpg or png. In the subject line, please put "Newsletter".

Capital Campaign Update
Thanks again to everyone who pledged and donated to the campaign and helped us reach our
$5.5M goal! It is the generosity and deep love for our parish that is making the dream a reality.
Today’s information provides building development, important pledge payment updates and a
Q&A section.
Building Development:
- We are in the middle of contracting for asbestos remediation of Gabriel House. An
updated report on the current state of the building should be completed this week, a
vendor contract should be signed and work scheduled shortly. If your parish
organization is currently using Gabriel House for storage, please clear your area now – if
you haven’t already done so
- We are finalizing architecture contracts to begin final design and construction
documents. We also expect to choose a contractor and construction management firm
soon so that the architect can collaborate with them during pre-construction
- New pledges and donations are most welcome! As the costs of building materials may
increase, we continue to seek additional revenue. If you haven’t yet pledged – or have
had a sudden influx of funds – please consider sharing it with the campaign. To make a
pledge (or increased pledge), please send an email to campaign@stgabrielstl.org
Payment Information:
- Reminders: To current donors not utilizing Faith Direct for payments, we’ll soon be
sending you a letter asking if and how you’d like to be reminded about making your
payments. This will help donors and the parish stay on top of collections
- Company Match: If your company offers matching of charitable donations, please
initiate an application with your company today. This is a huge bonus for the campaign
- Frontloading: Finally, the parish will be borrowing funds for construction until all
pledges are collected. The more cash we receive upfront, the less the parish will have to
borrow – lowering costs. Also, having 50% of our campaign goal in cash is required to
break ground. If you have the ability to frontload a portion of your pledge or accelerate
your payments, it would be appreciated
- Keeping Up: For those paying by check on a regular cycle (monthly, quarterly, yearly),
please make sure you’re keeping up with your pledge payments
- New donors: If you’ve made a pledge but not started payments, please start now. You
can set up online payments at Faith Direct, or pay by check. You can pay in one payment, or in payments over 2-5 years either monthly, quarterly or yearly.

You Have Questions!
Q: When is groundbreaking?
A: TBD. Expected to be this fall.
Q: When will asbestos remediation begin?
A: TBD. Expected to be this summer. Again, remove any stored materials NOW!
Q: Are any pavers and other memorials left?
A: YES, plenty of pavers are left. And multiple Classrooms (Flex rooms), breakout rooms, the
stained-glass chapel windows, the beautiful garden in front of the Welcome Room, and the
oblique glass windows are left. All except pavers are at reduced prices.
Q: What are the character maximums for pavers?
A: Because we will be hiring a paver company shortly, this is TBD. You may enter a memorial
message at the website now. If it exceeds character limits, we will contact you after a hiring
decision is made.
Q: How do I select pavers and other memorials?
A: Go to the Capital Campaign/Memorials section of the parish website: www.stgabrielstl.org
and select one or more.
Q: When do I pay for my paver(s)?
A: Payment by check is expected within 30 days of ordering.
Q: How do I contact Faith Direct if I need assistance?
A: Customer service is 866-507-8757. They are very willing to help solve any issues.
Q: Other issues?
A: Please send an email to campaign@stgabrielstl.org
Thanks again for everything you’ve done to make Building Bright Futures a huge success!

Prayer of Saint Augustine
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, That my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, That my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, That I love but what is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, To defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, That I always may be holy.
